وَكَأَيِّن مِّنْ آيَةٍ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ يَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهَا وَهُمْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضُونَ ١٠٥

And how many a sign in the heavens and the earth they pass by, while they are averse therefrom.

وَكَأَيِّن مِّنْ آيَةٍ

And how many a sign

فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ

in the heavens and the earth

يَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهَا

they pass by

وَهُمْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضُونَ

while they are averse therefrom

وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُم بِاللَّهِ إِلَّا وَهُم مُّشْرِكُونَ ١٠٦

And most of them believe not in Allah except that they attribute partners unto Him [i.e. they are Mushrikun -polytheists - see Verse 6:121].

وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُم بِاللَّهِ

And most of them believe not in Allah

إِلَّا وَهُم مُّشْرِكُونَ

except that they attribute partners unto Him [i.e. they are Mushrikun -polytheists - see Verse 6:121]

أَفَأَمِنُوا أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ غَاشِيَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ اللَّهِ أَوْ تَأْتِيَهُمُ السَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ١٠٧

Do they then feel secure from the coming against them of the covering veil of the Torment of Allah, or of the coming against them of the (Final) Hour, all of a sudden while they perceive not?

أَفَأَمِنُوا

Do they then feel secure

أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ غَاشِيَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ اللَّهِ

from the coming against them of the covering veil of the Torment of Allah

أَوْ تَأْتِيَهُمُ السَّاعَةُ

or of the coming against them of the (Final) Hour

بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

all of a sudden while they perceive not
