قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا ۖ فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ ۖ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَن يَأْتِيَنِي بِهِمْ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ ٨٣
He [Ya'qub (Jacob)] said: "Nay, but your ownselves have beguiled you into something. So patience is most fitting (for me). May be Allah will bring them (back) all to me. Truly He! only He is All-Knowing, All-Wise."
- قَالَ
- He [Ya'qub (Jacob)] said:
- بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا ۖ
- Nay, but your own selves have beguiled you into something.
- فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ ۖ
- So patience is most fitting (for me).
- عَسَى اللَّهُ أَن يَأْتِيَنِي بِهِمْ جَمِيعًا ۚ
- May be Allah will bring them (back) all to me.
- إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ
- Truly He! only He is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
وَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا أَسَفَىٰ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَابْيَضَّتْ عَيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْحُزْنِ فَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ ٨٤
And he turned away from them and said: "Alas, my grief for Yusuf (Joseph)!" And he lost his sight because of the sorrow that he was suppressing.
- وَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ
- And he turned away from them
- وَقَالَ
- and said:
- يَا أَسَفَىٰ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَابْيَضَّتْ
- "Alas, my grief for Yusuf (Joseph)!"
- عَيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْحُزْنِ فَهُوَ
- And he lost his sight because of the sorrow
- كَظِيمٌ
- that he was suppressing.
قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ تَفْتَأُ تَذْكُرُ يُوسُفَ حَتَّىٰ تَكُونَ حَرَضًا أَوْ تَكُونَ مِنَ الْهَالِكِينَ ٨٥
They said: "By Allah! You will never cease remembering Yusuf (Joseph) until you become weak with old age, or until you be of the dead."
- قَالُوا
- They said:
- تَاللَّهِ
- By Allah!
- تَفْتَأُ تَذْكُرُ يُوسُفَ
- You will never cease remembering Yusuf (Joseph)
- حَتَّىٰ تَكُونَ حَرَضًا
- until you become weak with old age,
- أَوْ تَكُونَ مِنَ الْهَالِكِينَ
- or until you be of the dead.
قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّهِ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ٨٦
He said: "I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you know not.
- قَالَ
- He said:
- إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّهِ
- I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah,
- وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
- and I know from Allah that which you know not.
يَا بَنِيَّ اذْهَبُوا فَتَحَسَّسُوا مِن يُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ وَلَا تَيْأَسُوا مِن رَّوْحِ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَا يَيْأَسُ مِن رَّوْحِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْكَافِرُونَ ٨٧
"O my sons! Go you and enquire about Yusuf (Joseph) and his brother, and never give up hope of Allah's Mercy. Certainly no one despairs of Allah's Mercy, except the people who disbelieve."
- يَا بَنِيَّ اذْهَبُوا
- O my sons!
- فَتَحَسَّسُوا مِن يُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ وَلَا
- Go you and enquire about Yusuf (Joseph) and his brother,
- تَيْأَسُوا مِن رَّوْحِ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ
- and never give up hope of Allah's Mercy.
- لَا يَيْأَسُ مِن رَّوْحِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْكَافِرُونَ
- Certainly no one despairs of Allah's Mercy, except the people who disbelieve.
