وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ ٢٠

And there came running from the farthest part of the town, a man, saying: "O my people! Obey the Messengers;

وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَىٰ

And there came running from the farthest part of the town, a man,

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا

saying: 'O my people!'

الْمُرْسَلِينَ

Obey the Messengers;

اتَّبِعُوا مَن لَّا يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَجْرًا وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ ٢١

"Obey those who ask no wages of you (for themselves), and who are rightly guided.

اتَّبِعُوا

Obey

مَن لَّا يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَجْرًا

those who ask no wages of you

وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ

and who are rightly guided

وَمَا لِيَ لَا أَعْبُدُ الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ ٢٢

"And why should I not worship Him (Allah Alone) Who has created me and to Whom you shall be returned.

وَمَا لِيَ لَا أَعْبُدُ

And why should I not worship

الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي

Him (Allah Alone) Who has created me

وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

and to Whom you shall be returned

أَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِ آلِهَةً إِن يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَّا تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُنقِذُونِ ٢٣

"Shall I take besides Him aliha (gods), if the Most Beneficent (Allah) intends me any harm, their intercession will be of no use for me whatsoever, nor can they save me?

أَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِ آلِهَةً

Shall I take besides Him aliha (gods),

إِن يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَٰنُ بِضُرٍّ

if the Most Beneficent (Allah) intends me any harm,

لَّا تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا

their intercession will be of no use for me whatsoever,

وَلَا يُنقِذُونِ

nor can they save me?

إِنِّي إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ ٢٤

"Then verily, I should be in plain error.

إِنِّي إِذًا

Then verily,

لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

I should be in plain error.

إِنِّي آمَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِ ٢٥

Verily! I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me!"

إِنِّي آمَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ

Verily! I have believed in your Lord,

فَاسْمَعُونِ

so listen to me!

قِيلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ ۖ قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ ٢٦

It was said (to him when the disbelievers killed him): "Enter Paradise." He said: "Would that my people knew!

قِيلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ ۖ

It was said (to him when the disbelievers killed him): 'Enter Paradise.'

قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ

He said: 'Would that my people knew!'

بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ ٢٧

"That my Lord (Allah) has forgiven me, and made me of the honoured ones!"

بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي

That my Lord (Allah) has forgiven me

وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ

and made me of the honoured ones!

۞ وَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ مِن بَعْدِهِ مِن جُندٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ ٢٨

And We sent not against his people after him a host from heaven, nor do We send (such a thing).

۞ وَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ

And We sent not against his people

مِن بَعْدِهِ

after him

مِن جُندٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ

a host from heaven

وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ

nor do We send (such a thing)

إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ ٢٩

It was but one Saihah (shout, etc.) and lo! They (all) were silent (dead-destroyed).

إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً

It was but one Saihah (shout, etc.)

فَإِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ

and lo! They (all) were silent (dead-destroyed)

يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ۚ مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ ٣٠

Alas for mankind! There never came a Messenger to them but they used to mock at him.

يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ۚ مَا

Alas for mankind!

يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا

There never came a Messenger to them

كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ

but they used to mock at him.

أَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ ٣١

Do they not see how many of the generations We have destroyed before them? Verily, they will not return to them.

أَلَمْ يَرَوْا

Do they not see

كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ الْقُرُونِ

how many of the generations We have destroyed before them?

أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ

Verily, they will not return to them.

وَإِن كُلٌّ لَّمَّا جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ ٣٢

And surely, all, everyone of them will be brought before Us.

وَإِن كُلٌّ

And surely, all

لَّمَّا جَمِيعٌ

everyone of them

لَّدَيْنَا

will be brought before Us

مُحْضَرُونَ
