إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِّن طِينٍ ٧١

(Remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Truly, I am going to create man from clay".

إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ

when your Lord said

لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ

to the angels

إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا

Truly, I am going to create man

مِّن طِينٍ

from clay

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ ٧٢

So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him (his) soul created by Me, then you fall down prostrate to him."

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ

So when I have fashioned him

وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي

and breathed into him (his) soul created by Me

فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ

then you fall down prostrate to him.

فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ ٧٣

So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them:

فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ

So the angels prostrated themselves

كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ

all of them

إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ اسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ ٧٤

Except Iblis (Satan) he was proud and was one of the disbelievers.

إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ

Except Iblis (Satan)

اسْتَكْبَرَ

he was proud

وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ

and was one of the disbelievers

قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ الْعَالِينَ ٧٥

(Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What prevents you from prostrating yourself to one whom I have created with Both My Hands. Are you too proud (to fall prostrate to Adam) or are you one of the high exalted?"

قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا

(Allah) said: O Iblis (Satan)!

مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا

What prevents you from prostrating yourself

خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ

to one whom I have created with Both My Hands.

أَمْ

Are you too proud

كُنتَ مِنَ الْعَالِينَ

or are you one of the high exalted?

قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِي مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِن طِينٍ ٧٦

[Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am better than he, You created me from fire, and You created him from clay."

قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ

[Iblis (Satan)] said: 'I am better than he,'

خَلَقْتَنِي مِن نَّارٍ

You created me from fire,

وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِن طِينٍ

and You created him from clay.

قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ ٧٧

(Allah) said: "Then get out from here, for verily, you are outcast.

قَالَ

Allah said:

فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا

Then get out from here,

فَإِنَّكَ

for verily, you are

رَجِيمٌ

outcast.

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ ٧٨

"And verily!, My Curse is on you till the Day of Recompense."

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ

And verily!, on you

لَعْنَتِي

My Curse

إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ

is on you till the Day of Recompense.

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ ٧٩

[Iblis (Satan)] said: "My Lord! Give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are resurrected."

قَالَ رَبِّ

My Lord!

فَأَنظِرْنِي

Give me then respite

إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ

till the Day

يُبْعَثُونَ

the (dead) are resurrected.

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ ٨٠

(Allah) said: "Verily! You are of those allowed respite

قَالَ

Allah said:

فَإِنَّكَ

Verily! You are

مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ

of those allowed respite

إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ ٨١

"Till the Day of the time appointed."

إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ

Till the Day of

الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ

the time appointed

قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ٨٢

[Iblis (Satan)] said: "By Your Might, then I will surely mislead them all,

قَالَ

said

فَبِعِزَّتِكَ

By Your Might

لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

then I will surely mislead them all

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ ٨٣

"Except Your chosen slaves amongst them (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism)."

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ

Except Your chosen slaves

مِنْهُمُ

amongst them

الْمُخْلَصِينَ

(faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism)

قَالَ فَالْحَقُّ وَالْحَقَّ أَقُولُ ٨٤

(Allah) said: "The Truth is, and the Truth I say,

قَالَ

said

فَالْحَقُّ

The Truth is,

وَالْحَقَّ أَقُولُ

and the Truth I say,

لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ٨٥

That I will fill Hell with you [Iblis (Satan)] and those of them (mankind) that follow you, together."

لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ

That I will fill Hell

مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ

with you [Iblis (Satan)] and those that follow you

مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

from them together.

قُلْ مَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ ٨٦

Say (O Muhammad SAW): "No wage do I ask of you for this (the Quran), nor am I one of the Mutakallifun (those who pretend and fabricate things which do not exist).

قُلْ مَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ

Say (O Muhammad SAW): 'No wage do I ask of you for this (the Quran),

وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ

nor am I one of the Mutakallifun (those who pretend and fabricate things which do not exist).

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَالَمِينَ ٨٧

"It (this Quran) is only a Reminder for all the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns).

إِنْ هُوَ

It (this Quran) is only

إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ

a Reminder

لِّلْعَالَمِينَ

for all the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns)

وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُ بَعْدَ حِينٍ ٨٨

"And you shall certainly know the truth of it after a while.

وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ

And you shall certainly know

نَبَأَهُ

the truth of it

بَعْدَ حِينٍ

after a while
