وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُم بَطْشًا فَنَقَّبُوا فِي الْبِلَادِ هَلْ مِن مَّحِيصٍ ٣٦

And how many a generation We have destroyed before them, who were stronger in power than them, and (when Our Torment came) they ran for a refuge in the land! Could they find any place of refuge (for them to save themselves from destruction)?

وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ

And how many a generation We have destroyed before them,

هُمْ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُم بَطْشًا

who were stronger in power than them,

فَنَقَّبُوا فِي الْبِلَادِ

and (when Our Torment came) they ran for a refuge in the land!

هَلْ مِن مَّحِيصٍ

Could they find any place of refuge (for them to save themselves from destruction)?

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْرَىٰ لِمَن كَانَ لَهُ قَلْبٌ أَوْ أَلْقَى السَّمْعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ ٣٧

Verily, therein is indeed a reminder for him who has a heart or gives ear while he is heedful.

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ

Verily, therein is indeed

لَذِكْرَىٰ

a reminder

لِمَن كَانَ لَهُ قَلْبٌ

for him who has a heart

أَوْ أَلْقَى السَّمْعَ

or gives ear

وَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ

while he is heedful

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِن لُّغُوبٍ ٣٨

And indeed We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six Days and nothing of fatigue touched Us.

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ

And indeed We created the heavens

وَالْأَرْضَ

and the earth

وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا

and all between them

فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ

in six Days

وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِن لُّغُوبٍ

and nothing of fatigue touched Us

فَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوبِ ٣٩

So bear with patience (O Muhammad SAW) all that they say, and glorify the Praises of your Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting (i.e. the Fajr, Zuhr, and 'Asr prayers).

فَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ

So bear with patience (O Muhammad SAW) all that they say,

وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ

and glorify the Praises of your Lord,

قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوبِ

before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting (i.e. the Fajr, Zuhr, and 'Asr prayers).

وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ ٤٠

And during a part of the night (also), glorify His praises (i.e. Maghrib and 'Isha prayers), and (so likewise) after the prayers [As-Sunnah, Nawafil optional and additional prayers, and also glorify, praise and magnify Allah - Subhan Allah, Alhamdu lillah, Allahu-Akbar].

وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ

And during a part of the night

فَسَبِّحْهُ

glorify His praises

وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ

and (so likewise) after the prayers

وَاسْتَمِعْ يَوْمَ يُنَادِ الْمُنَادِ مِن مَّكَانٍ قَرِيبٍ ٤١

And listen on the Day when the caller will call from a near place,

وَاسْتَمِعْ

And listen

يَوْمَ يُنَادِ الْمُنَادِ

on the Day when the caller will call

مِن مَّكَانٍ قَرِيبٍ

from a near place

يَوْمَ يَسْمَعُونَ الصَّيْحَةَ بِالْحَقِّ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ الْخُرُوجِ ٤٢

The Day when they will hear As-Saihah (shout, etc.) in truth, that will be the Day of coming out (from the graves i.e. the Day of Resurrection).

يَوْمَ يَسْمَعُونَ الصَّيْحَةَ بِالْحَقِّ ۚ

The Day when they will hear As-Saihah (shout, etc.) in truth

ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ الْخُرُوجِ

that will be the Day of coming out (from the graves i.e. the Day of Resurrection)

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي وَنُمِيتُ وَإِلَيْنَا الْمَصِيرُ ٤٣

Verily, We it is Who give life and cause death; and to Us is the final return,

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي

Verily, We it is Who give life

وَنُمِيتُ

and cause death;

وَإِلَيْنَا الْمَصِيرُ

and to Us is the final return,

يَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ الْأَرْضُ عَنْهُمْ سِرَاعًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ حَشْرٌ عَلَيْنَا يَسِيرٌ ٤٤

On the Day when the earth shall be cleft, from off them, (they will come out) hastening forth. That will be a gathering, quite easy for Us.

يَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ الْأَرْضُ

On the Day when the earth shall be cleft

عَنْهُمْ سِرَاعًا ۚ

from off them, (they will come out) hastening forth.

ذَٰلِكَ حَشْرٌ عَلَيْنَا يَسِيرٌ

That will be a gathering, quite easy for Us.

نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ ۖ وَمَا أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِجَبَّارٍ ۖ فَذَكِّرْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مَن يَخَافُ وَعِيدِ ٤٥

We know of best what they say; and you (O Muhammad SAW) are not a tyrant over them (to force them to Belief). But warn by the Quran, him who fears My Threat.

نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ ۖ

We know best what they say;

وَمَا أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِجَبَّارٍ ۖ

and you (O Muhammad SAW) are not a tyrant over them (to force them to Belief).

فَذَكِّرْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مَن يَخَافُ وَعِيدِ

But warn by the Quran, him who fears My Threat.
