أَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقًا ١٥

See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another,

أَلَمْ تَرَوْا

See you not

كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ

how Allah has created

سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ

the seven heavens

طِبَاقًا

one above another

وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا ١٦

And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp?

وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا

And has made the moon a light therein

وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا

and made the sun a lamp

وَاللَّهُ أَنبَتَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا ١٧

And Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 29, Page 97].

وَاللَّهُ

And Allah

أَنبَتَكُم

has brought you forth

مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ

from the (dust of) earth

نَبَاتًا

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا ١٨

Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)?

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا

Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth)

وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا

and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)

وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا ١٩

And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse).

وَاللَّهُ

And Allah

جَعَلَ لَكُمُ

has made for you

الْأَرْضَ

the earth

بِسَاطًا

wide spread (an expanse)

لِّتَسْلُكُوا مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا ٢٠

That you may go about therein in broad roads.

لِّتَسْلُكُوا

That you may go about

مِنْهَا

therein

سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا

in broad roads

قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي وَاتَّبَعُوا مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ إِلَّا خَسَارًا ٢١

Nuh (Noah) said: "My Lord! They have disobeyed me, and followed one whose wealth and children give him no increase but only loss.

قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ

Nuh (Noah) said: 'My Lord!

إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي

They have disobeyed me,

وَاتَّبَعُوا مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ

and followed one whose wealth and children

إِلَّا خَسَارًا

give him no increase but only loss.

وَمَكَرُوا مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا ٢٢

"And they have plotted a mighty plot.

وَمَكَرُوا

And they have plotted

مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا

a mighty plot

وَقَالُوا لَا تَذَرُنَّ آلِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا ٢٣

"And they have said: 'You shall not leave your gods, nor shall you leave Wadd, nor Suwa', nor Yaghuth, nor Ya'uq, nor Nasr (names of the idols);

وَقَالُوا

And they have said:

لَا تَذَرُنَّ آلِهَتَكُمْ

You shall not leave your gods,

وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا

nor shall you leave Wadd,

وَلَا سُوَاعًا

nor Suwa',

وَلَا يَغُوثَ

nor Yaghuth,

وَيَعُوقَ

nor Ya'uq,

وَنَسْرًا

nor Nasr (names of the idols);

وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَالًا ٢٤

"And indeed they have led many astray. And (O Allah): 'Grant no increase to the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, and disbelievers, etc.) save error."

وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا ۖ

And indeed they have led many astray.

وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَالًا

And (O Allah): 'Grant no increase to the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, and disbelievers, etc.) save error.

مِّمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا فَأُدْخِلُوا نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَنصَارًا ٢٥

Because of their sins they were drowned, then were made to enter the Fire, and they found none to help them instead of Allah.

مِّمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ

Because of their sins

أُغْرِقُوا

they were drowned

فَأُدْخِلُوا نَارًا

then were made to enter the Fire

فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَنصَارًا

and they found none to help them instead of Allah
