أَفَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي كَفَرَ بِآيَاتِنَا وَقَالَ لَأُوتَيَنَّ مَالًا وَوَلَدًا ٧٧
Have you seen him who disbelieved in Our Ayat (this Quran and Muhammad SAW) and (yet) says: "I shall certainly be given wealth and children [if I will be alive (again)],"
- أَفَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي كَفَرَ بِآيَاتِنَا
- Have you seen him who disbelieved in Our Ayat (this Quran and Muhammad SAW)
- وَقَالَ لَأُوتَيَنَّ مَالًا وَوَلَدًا
- and (yet) says: 'I shall certainly be given wealth and children [if I will be alive (again)]'
أَطَّلَعَ الْغَيْبَ أَمِ اتَّخَذَ عِندَ الرَّحْمَٰنِ عَهْدًا ٧٨
Has he known the unseen or has he taken a covenant from the Most Beneficent (Allah)?
- أَطَّلَعَ الْغَيْبَ
- Has he known the unseen
- أَمِ اتَّخَذَ عِندَ الرَّحْمَٰنِ عَهْدًا
- or has he taken a covenant from the Most Beneficent (Allah)?
كَلَّا ۚ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا يَقُولُ وَنَمُدُّ لَهُ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ مَدًّا ٧٩
Nay! We shall record what he says, and We shall increase his torment (in the Hell);
- كَلَّا ۚ
- Nay!
- سَنَكْتُبُ مَا يَقُولُ
- We shall record what he says,
- وَنَمُدُّ لَهُ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ مَدًّا
- and We shall increase his torment (in the Hell);
وَنَرِثُهُ مَا يَقُولُ وَيَأْتِينَا فَرْدًا ٨٠
And We shall inherit from him (at his death) all that he talks of (i.e. wealth and children which We have bestowed upon him in this world), and he shall come to Us alone.
- وَنَرِثُهُ
- And We shall inherit from him
- مَا يَقُولُ
- all that he talks of
- وَيَأْتِينَا
- and he shall come to Us
- فَرْدًا
- alone
- all that he talks of (i.e. wealth and children which We have bestowed upon him in this world), and he shall come to Us alone.
وَاتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً لِّيَكُونُوا لَهُمْ عِزًّا ٨١
And they have taken (for worship) aliha (gods) besides Allah, that they might give them honour, power and glory (and also protect them from Allah's Punishment etc.).
- وَاتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً
- And they have taken (for worship) aliha (gods) besides Allah,
- لِّيَكُونُوا لَهُمْ عِزًّا
- that they might give them honour, power and glory (and also protect them from Allah's Punishment etc.).
كَلَّا ۚ سَيَكْفُرُونَ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ وَيَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضِدًّا ٨٢
Nay, but they (the so-called gods) will deny their worship of them, and become opponents to them (on the Day of Resurrection).
- كَلَّا ۚ
- Nay, but
- سَيَكْفُرُونَ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ
- they (the so-called gods) will deny their worship of them
- وَيَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضِدًّا
- and become opponents to them (on the Day of Resurrection)
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا الشَّيَاطِينَ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ تَؤُزُّهُمْ أَزًّا ٨٣
See you not that We have sent the Shayatin (devils) against the disbelievers to push them to do evil.
- أَلَمْ تَرَ
- See you not
- أَنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا الشَّيَاطِينَ
- that We have sent the Shayatin (devils)
- عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ
- against the disbelievers
- تَؤُزُّهُمْ أَزًّا
- to push them to do evil
فَلَا تَعْجَلْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا نَعُدُّ لَهُمْ عَدًّا ٨٤
So make no haste against them; We only count out to them a (limited) number (of the days of the life of this world and delay their term so that they may increase in evil and sins).
- فَلَا تَعْجَلْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ

- إِنَّمَا نَعُدُّ لَهُمْ
- We only count out to them
- عَدًّا
- a (limited) number
- of the days
- of the life of this world
- and delay their term
- so that they may increase in evil and sins.
يَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ الْمُتَّقِينَ إِلَى الرَّحْمَٰنِ وَفْدًا ٨٥
The Day We shall gather the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) unto the Most Beneficent (Allah), like a delegate (presented before a king for honour).
- يَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ
- The Day We shall gather
- الْمُتَّقِينَ
- the Muttaqun (pious)
- إِلَى الرَّحْمَٰنِ
- unto the Most Beneficent (Allah)
- وَفْدًا
- like a delegate (presented before a king for honour)
وَنَسُوقُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ وِرْدًا ٨٦
And We shall drive the Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, etc.) to Hell, in a thirsty state (like a thirsty herd driven down to water),
- وَنَسُوقُ
- And We shall drive
- الْمُجْرِمِينَ
- the Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, etc.)
- إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ
- to Hell
- وِرْدًا
- in a thirsty state (like a thirsty herd driven down to water)
لَّا يَمْلِكُونَ الشَّفَاعَةَ إِلَّا مَنِ اتَّخَذَ عِندَ الرَّحْمَٰنِ عَهْدًا ٨٧
None shall have the power of intercession, but such a one as has received permission (or promise) from the Most Beneficent (Allah).
- لَّا يَمْلِكُونَ الشَّفَاعَةَ
- None shall have the power of intercession
- إِلَّا مَنِ اتَّخَذَ عِندَ الرَّحْمَٰنِ عَهْدًا
- but such a one as has received permission (or promise) from the Most Beneficent (Allah)
وَقَالُوا اتَّخَذَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَلَدًا ٨٨
And they say: "The Most Beneficent (Allah) has begotten a son (or offspring or children) [as the Jews say: 'Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allah, and the Christians say that He has begotten a son ['Iesa (Christ)], and the pagan Arabs say that He has begotten daughters (angels, etc.)]."
- وَقَالُوا
- And they say:
- اتَّخَذَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَلَدًا
- The Most Beneficent (Allah) has begotten a son (or offspring or children)
- as the Jews say:
- 'Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allah,
- and the Christians say that
- He has begotten a son
- ['Iesa (Christ)],
- and the pagan Arabs say that
- He has begotten daughters
- (angels, etc.)
لَّقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَيْئًا إِدًّا ٨٩
Indeed you have brought forth (said) a terrible evil thing.
- لَّقَدْ جِئْتُمْ
- Indeed you have brought forth

- a terrible evil thing
تَكَادُ السَّمَاوَاتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَنشَقُّ الْأَرْضُ وَتَخِرُّ الْجِبَالُ هَدًّا ٩٠
Whereby the heavens are almost torn, and the earth is split asunder, and the mountains fall in ruins,
- تَكَادُ السَّمَاوَاتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ
- Whereby the heavens are almost torn,
- وَتَنشَقُّ الْأَرْضُ
- and the earth is split asunder,
- وَتَخِرُّ الْجِبَالُ هَدًّا
- and the mountains fall in ruins,
أَن دَعَوْا لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ وَلَدًا ٩١
That they ascribe a son (or offspring or children) to the Most Beneficent (Allah).
- أَن دَعَوْا

- to the Most Beneficent
- وَلَدًا
- a son (or offspring or children)
وَمَا يَنبَغِي لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا ٩٢
But it is not suitable for (the Majesty of) the Most Beneficent (Allah) that He should beget a son (or offspring or children).
- وَمَا يَنبَغِي
- But it is not suitable
- لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ
- for (the Majesty of) the Most Beneficent (Allah)
- أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا
- that He should beget a son (or offspring or children)
إِن كُلُّ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ إِلَّا آتِي الرَّحْمَٰنِ عَبْدًا ٩٣
There is none in the heavens and the earth but comes unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) as a slave.
- إِن كُلُّ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ
- There is none in the heavens and the earth
- إِلَّا آتِي الرَّحْمَٰنِ
- but comes unto the Most Beneficent (Allah)
- عَبْدًا
- as a slave
لَّقَدْ أَحْصَاهُمْ وَعَدَّهُمْ عَدًّا ٩٤
Verily, He knows each one of them, and has counted them a full counting.
- لَّقَدْ أَحْصَاهُمْ
- Verily, He knows each one of them,
- وَعَدَّهُمْ عَدًّا
- and has counted them a full counting.
وَكُلُّهُمْ آتِيهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَرْدًا ٩٥
And everyone of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection (without any helper, or protector or defender).
- وَكُلُّهُمْ
- And everyone of them

- will come to Him
- يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
- on the Day of Resurrection
- فَرْدًا
