وَإِذْ يَتَحَاجُّونَ فِي النَّارِ فَيَقُولُ الضُّعَفَاءُ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعًا فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّغْنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبًا مِّنَ النَّارِ ٤٧

And, when they will dispute in the Fire, the weak will say to those who were arrogant; "Verily! We followed you, can you then take from us some portion of the Fire?"

وَإِذْ يَتَحَاجُّونَ فِي النَّارِ

And, when they will dispute in the Fire,

فَيَقُولُ الضُّعَفَاءُ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا

the weak will say to those who were arrogant;

إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعًا

"Verily! We followed you,

فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّغْنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبًا مِّنَ النَّارِ

can you then take from us some portion of the Fire?"

قَالَ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا إِنَّا كُلٌّ فِيهَا إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ حَكَمَ بَيْنَ الْعِبَادِ ٤٨

Those who were arrogant will say: "We are all (together) in this (Fire)! Verily Allah has judged between (His) slaves!"

قَالَ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا

Those who were arrogant will say:

إِنَّا كُلٌّ فِيهَا

We are all (together) in this (Fire)!

إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ حَكَمَ بَيْنَ الْعِبَادِ

Verily Allah has judged between (His) slaves!

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ فِي النَّارِ لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ يُخَفِّفْ عَنَّا يَوْمًا مِّنَ الْعَذَابِ ٤٩

And those in the Fire will say to the keepers (angels) of Hell: "Call upon your Lord to lighten for us the torment for a day!"

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ فِي النَّارِ

And those in the Fire will say

لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ

to the keepers (angels) of Hell:

ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ

"Call upon your Lord

يُخَفِّفْ عَنَّا

to lighten for us

يَوْمًا مِّنَ الْعَذَابِ

the torment for a day!"

قَالُوا أَوَلَمْ تَكُ تَأْتِيكُمْ رُسُلُكُم بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ ۖ قَالُوا بَلَىٰ ۚ قَالُوا فَادْعُوا ۗ وَمَا دُعَاءُ الْكَافِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ ٥٠

They will say: "Did there not come to you, your Messengers with (clear) evidences and signs? They will say: "Yes." They will reply: "Then call (as you like)! And the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but in error!"

قَالُوا

They will say:

أَوَلَمْ تَكُ تَأْتِيكُمْ رُسُلُكُم بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ ۖ

Did there not come to you, your Messengers with (clear) evidences and signs?

قَالُوا بَلَىٰ ۚ

They will say: 'Yes.'

قَالُوا فَادْعُوا ۗ

They will reply: 'Then call (as you like)!'

وَمَا دُعَاءُ الْكَافِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ

And the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but in error!

إِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَيَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْأَشْهَادُ ٥١

Verily, We will indeed make victorious Our Messengers and those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) in this world's life and on the Day when the witnesses will stand forth, (i.e. Day of Resurrection),

إِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ

Verily, We will indeed make victorious

رُسُلَنَا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا

Our Messengers and those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism)

فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا

in this world's life

وَيَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْأَشْهَادُ

and on the Day when the witnesses will stand forth, (i.e. Day of Resurrection)

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ الظَّالِمِينَ مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ ۖ وَلَهُمُ اللَّعْنَةُ وَلَهُمْ سُوءُ الدَّارِ ٥٢

The Day when their excuses will be of no profit to Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah). Theirs will be the curse, and theirs will be the evil abode (i.e. painful torment in Hell-fire).

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ الظَّالِمِينَ مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ ۖ

The Day when their excuses will be of no profit to Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah).

وَلَهُمُ اللَّعْنَةُ

Theirs will be the curse,

وَلَهُمْ سُوءُ الدَّارِ

and theirs will be the evil abode (i.e. painful torment in Hell-fire).

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْهُدَىٰ وَأَوْرَثْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الْكِتَابَ ٥٣

And, indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture [i.e. the Taurat (Torah)],

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا

And, indeed We gave

مُوسَى الْهُدَىٰ

Musa (Moses) the guidance

وَأَوْرَثْنَا

and We caused to inherit

بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الْكِتَابَ

the Children of Israel the Scripture [i.e. the Taurat (Torah)]

هُدًى وَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ ٥٤

A guide and a reminder for men of understanding.

هُدًى

A guide

وَذِكْرَىٰ

and a reminder

لِأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ

for men of understanding

فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنبِكَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ بِالْعَشِيِّ وَالْإِبْكَارِ ٥٥

So be patient (O Muhammad SAW). Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your fault, and glorify the praises of your Lord in the Ashi (i.e. the time period after the midnoon till sunset) and in the Ibkar (i.e. the time period from early morning or sunrise till before midnoon) [it is said that, that means the five compulsory congregational Salat (prayers) or the 'Asr and Fajr prayers].

فَاصْبِرْ

So be patient (O Muhammad SAW).

إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ

Verily, the Promise of Allah is true,

وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنبِكَ

and ask forgiveness for your fault,

وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ

and glorify the praises of your Lord

بِالْعَشِيِّ وَالْإِبْكَارِ

in the Ashi (i.e. the time period after the midnoon till sunset) and in the Ibkar (i.e. the time period from early morning or sunrise till before midnoon)
