إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُنَادَوْنَ لَمَقْتُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ مِن مَّقْتِكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ إِذْ تُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى الْإِيمَانِ فَتَكْفُرُونَ ١٠

Those who disbelieve will be addressed (at the time of entering into the Fire): "Allah's aversion was greater towards you (in the worldly life when you used to reject the Faith) than your aversion towards one another (now in the Fire of Hell, as you are now enemies to one another), when you were called to the Faith but you used to refuse."

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا

Those who disbelieve

يُنَادَوْنَ

will be addressed

لَمَقْتُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ

Allah's aversion was greater

مِن مَّقْتِكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ

than your aversion towards one another

إِذْ تُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى الْإِيمَانِ

when you were called to the Faith

فَتَكْفُرُونَ

but you used to refuse

قَالُوا رَبَّنَا أَمَتَّنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَحْيَيْتَنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ فَاعْتَرَفْنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا فَهَلْ إِلَىٰ خُرُوجٍ مِّن سَبِيلٍ ١١

They will say: "Our Lord! You have made us to die twice (i.e. we were dead in the loins of our fathers and dead after our deaths in this world), and You have given us life twice (i.e. life when we were born and life when we are Resurrected)! Now we confess our sins, then is there any way to get out (of the Fire)?"

قَالُوا رَبَّنَا

They will say: 'Our Lord!'

أَمَتَّنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ

You have made us to die twice

وَأَحْيَيْتَنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ

and You have given us life twice

فَاعْتَرَفْنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا

Now we confess our sins

فَهَلْ إِلَىٰ خُرُوجٍ مِّن سَبِيلٍ

then is there any way to get out (of the Fire)?

ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُ إِذَا دُعِيَ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ كَفَرْتُمْ ۖ وَإِن يُشْرَكْ بِهِ تُؤْمِنُوا ۚ فَالْحُكْمُ لِلَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْكَبِيرِ ١٢

(It will be said): "This is because, when Allah Alone was invoked (in worship, etc.) you disbelieved, but when partners were joined to Him, you believed! So the judgement is only with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great!"

ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُ

This is because,

إِذَا دُعِيَ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ

when Allah Alone was invoked

كَفَرْتُمْ ۖ

you disbelieved,

وَإِن يُشْرَكْ بِهِ

but when partners were joined to Him,

تُؤْمِنُوا ۚ

you believed!

فَالْحُكْمُ لِلَّهِ

So the judgement is only with Allah,

الْعَلِيِّ الْكَبِيرِ

the Most High, the Most Great!
