وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ ۚ قُلْ أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَادَنِيَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ هَلْ هُنَّ كَاشِفَاتُ ضُرِّهِ أَوْ أَرَادَنِي بِرَحْمَةٍ هَلْ هُنَّ مُمْسِكَاتُ رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ قُلْ حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ ۖ عَلَيْهِ يَتَوَكَّلُ الْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ ٣٨
And verily, if you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" Surely, they will say: "Allah (has created them)." Say: "Tell me then, the things that you invoke besides Allah, if Allah intended some harm for me, could they remove His harm, or if He (Allah) intended some mercy for me, could they withhold His Mercy?" Say: "Sufficient for me is Allah; in Him those who trust (i.e. believers) must put their trust."
- وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ
- And verily, if you ask them: 'Who created the heavens and the earth?'
- لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ ۚ
- Surely, they will say: 'Allah (has created them).'
- قُلْ أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ
- Say: 'Tell me then, the things that you invoke besides Allah,
- إِنْ أَرَادَنِيَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ
- if Allah intended some harm for me,
- هَلْ هُنَّ كَاشِفَاتُ ضُرِّهِ
- could they remove His harm,
- أَوْ أَرَادَنِي بِرَحْمَةٍ
- or if He (Allah) intended some mercy for me,
- هَلْ هُنَّ مُمْسِكَاتُ رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ
- could they withhold His Mercy?'
- قُلْ حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ ۖ
- Say: 'Sufficient for me is Allah;'
- عَلَيْهِ يَتَوَكَّلُ الْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ
- in Him those who trust (i.e. believers) must put their trust.
قُلْ يَا قَوْمِ اعْمَلُوا عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّي عَامِلٌ ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ٣٩
Say: (O Muhammad SAW) "O My people! Work according to your way, I am working (according to my way). Then you will come to know,
- قُلْ يَا قَوْمِ اعْمَلُوا
- Say: (O Muhammad SAW) 'O My people!
- عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّي
- Work according to your way,
- عَامِلٌ ۖ فَسَوْفَ
- I am working (according to my way).
- تَعْلَمُونَ
- Then you will come to know,
مَن يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌ يُخْزِيهِ وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ ٤٠
"To whom comes a disgracing torment, and on whom descends an everlasting torment."
- مَن يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌ يُخْزِيهِ
- To whom comes a disgracing torment
- وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ
- and on whom descends an everlasting torment
إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ لِلنَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّ ۖ فَمَنِ اهْتَدَىٰ فَلِنَفْسِهِ ۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا ۖ وَمَا أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ ٤١
Verily, We have sent down to you (O Muhammad SAW) the Book (this Quran) for mankind in truth. So whosoever accepts the guidance, it is only for his ownself, and whosoever goes astray, he goes astray only for his (own) loss. And you (O Muhammad SAW) are not a Wakil (trustee or disposer of affairs, or keeper) over them.
- إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ
- Verily, We have sent down to you (O Muhammad SAW) the Book
- لِلنَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّ ۖ
- for mankind in truth.
- فَمَنِ اهْتَدَىٰ فَلِنَفْسِهِ ۖ
- So whosoever accepts the guidance, it is only for his ownself,
- وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا ۖ
- and whosoever goes astray, he goes astray only for his (own) loss.
- وَمَا أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ
- And you (O Muhammad SAW) are not a Wakil (trustee or disposer of affairs, or keeper) over them.
