وَالطُّورِ ١
By the Mount;
- وَالطُّورِ
- By the Name of Allah
- the Most Gracious
- the Most Merciful
- and by the Mount
وَكِتَابٍ مَّسْطُورٍ ٢
And by the Book Inscribed.
- وَكِتَابٍ
- And by the Book
- مَّسْطُورٍ
- Inscribed
فِي رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ ٣
In parchment unrolled.
- فِي رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ
- In parchment unrolled
وَالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ ٤
And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels);
- وَالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ
- And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur
- the house over the heavens
- continuously visited by the angels
- the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah
وَالسَّقْفِ الْمَرْفُوعِ ٥
And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven).
- وَالسَّقْفِ الْمَرْفُوعِ

وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ ٦
And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection).
- وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ
- And by the sea kept filled

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَاقِعٌ ٧
Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass,
- إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ
- Verily, the Torment of your Lord
- لَوَاقِعٌ
- will surely come to pass
مَّا لَهُ مِن دَافِعٍ ٨
There is none that can avert it;
- مَّا لَهُ
- There is none
- مِن دَافِعٍ
- that can avert it
يَوْمَ تَمُورُ السَّمَاءُ مَوْرًا ٩
On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking,
- يَوْمَ
- On the Day
- تَمُورُ السَّمَاءُ
- when the heaven will shake
- مَوْرًا
- with a dreadful shaking
وَتَسِيرُ الْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا ١٠
And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement.
- وَتَسِيرُ الْجِبَالُ
- And the mountains will move
- سَيْرًا
- with a (horrible) movement
فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ١١
Then woe that Day to the beliers;
- فَوَيْلٌ
- Then woe
- يَوْمَئِذٍ
- that Day
- لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
- to the beliers
الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ ١٢
Who are playing in falsehood.
- الَّذِينَ
- Who are
- هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ
- in falsehood
- يَلْعَبُونَ
- playing
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا ١٣
The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing.
- يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ
- The Day when they will be pushed down
- إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ
- to the Fire of Hell
- دَعًّا
- with a horrible, forceful pushing
هَٰذِهِ النَّارُ الَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ١٤
This is the Fire which you used to belie.
- هَٰذِهِ النَّارُ
- This is the Fire
- الَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا
- which you used to
- تُكَذِّبُونَ
- belie.
أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَا أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ ١٥
Is this magic, or do you not see?
- أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَا
- Is this magic,
- أَمْ
- or
- أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
- do you not see?
اصْلَوْهَا فَاصْبِرُوا أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ١٦
Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do.
- اصْلَوْهَا
- Taste you therein its heat,
- فَاصْبِرُوا أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا
- and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it,
- سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ
- it is all the same.
- إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
- You are only being requited for what you used to do.
