وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ عُزَيْرٌ ابْنُ اللَّهِ وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارَى الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ اللَّهِ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ قَوْلُهُم بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ ۖ يُضَاهِئُونَ قَوْلَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَبْلُ ۚ قَاتَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ ۚ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ ٣٠

And the Jews say: 'Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: Messiah is the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouths. They imitate the saying of the disbelievers of old. Allah's Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!

وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ

And the Jews say:

عُزَيْرٌ ابْنُ اللَّهِ

'Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allah,

وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارَى

and the Christians say:

الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ اللَّهِ ۖ

Messiah is the son of Allah.

ذَٰلِكَ قَوْلُهُم بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ ۖ

That is a saying from their mouths.

يُضَاهِئُونَ قَوْلَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَبْلُ ۚ

They imitate the saying of the disbelievers of old.

قَاتَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ ۚ

Allah's Curse be on them,

أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ

how they are deluded away from the truth!

اتَّخَذُوا أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَانَهُمْ أَرْبَابًا مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَالْمَسِيحَ ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا إِلَٰهًا وَاحِدًا ۖ لَّا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ سُبْحَانَهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ٣١

They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allah), and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded [in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)) to worship none but One Ilah (God - Allah) La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). Praise and glory be to Him, (far above is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him)."

اتَّخَذُوا أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَانَهُمْ أَرْبَابًا مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ

They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah

وَالْمَسِيحَ ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ

and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary)

وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا إِلَٰهًا وَاحِدًا ۖ

while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded to worship none but One Ilah (God - Allah)

لَّا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ

La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He)

سُبْحَانَهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

Praise and glory be to Him, (far above is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him)

يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُطْفِئُوا نُورَ اللَّهِ بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَيَأْبَى اللَّهُ إِلَّا أَن يُتِمَّ نُورَهُ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُونَ ٣٢

They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allah's Light (with which Muhammad SAW has been sent - Islamic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kafirun (disbelievers) hate (it).

يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُطْفِئُوا نُورَ اللَّهِ

They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allah's Light

بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ

with their mouths

وَيَأْبَى اللَّهُ إِلَّا أَن يُتِمَّ نُورَهُ

but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected

وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُونَ

even though the Kafirun (disbelievers) hate (it)

هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ ٣٣

It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) hate (it).

هُوَ الَّذِي

It is He Who

أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ

has sent His Messenger

بِالْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ

with guidance and the religion of truth

لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ

to make it superior over all religions

وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ

even though the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) hate (it)

۞ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ الْأَحْبَارِ وَالرُّهْبَانِ لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَالَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَهَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ٣٤

O you who believe! Verily, there are many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks who devour the wealth of mankind in falsehood, and hinder (them) from the Way of Allah (i.e. Allah's Religion of Islamic Monotheism). And those who hoard up gold and silver [Al-Kanz: the money, the Zakat of which has not been paid], and spend it not in the Way of Allah, -announce unto them a painful torment.

۞ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ

O you who believe!

كَثِيرًا مِّنَ الْأَحْبَارِ وَالرُّهْبَانِ لَيَأْكُلُونَ

Verily, there are many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks

أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ

who devour the wealth of mankind in falsehood,

عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَالَّذِينَ

and hinder (them) from the Way of Allah (i.e. Allah's Religion of Islamic Monotheism).

يَكْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ وَلَا

And those who hoard up gold and silver

يُنفِقُونَهَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَبَشِّرْهُم

and spend it not in the Way of Allah,

بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

-announce unto them a painful torment.

يَوْمَ يُحْمَىٰ عَلَيْهَا فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْوَىٰ بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنُوبُهُمْ وَظُهُورُهُمْ ۖ هَٰذَا مَا كَنَزْتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْ فَذُوقُوا مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْنِزُونَ ٣٥

On the Day when that (Al-Kanz: money, gold and silver, etc., the Zakat of which has not been paid) will be heated in the Fire of Hell and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, (and it will be said unto them):-"This is the treasure which you hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what you used to hoard."

يَوْمَ يُحْمَىٰ عَلَيْهَا فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ

On the Day when that (Al-Kanz: money, gold and silver, etc., the Zakat of which has not been paid) will be heated in the Fire of Hell

فَتُكْوَىٰ بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنُوبُهُمْ وَظُهُورُهُمْ ۖ

and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs

هَٰذَا مَا كَنَزْتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْ

This is the treasure which you hoarded for yourselves

فَذُوقُوا مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْنِزُونَ

Now taste of what you used to hoard
