كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٧٦

The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers.

كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ

The dwellers of Al-Aiyka

الْمُرْسَلِينَ

belied the Messengers

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ١٧٧

When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)?

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ

When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them

أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)?

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ١٧٨

"I am a trustworthy Messenger to you.

إِنِّي

I am

لَكُمْ

to you

رَسُولٌ

a Messenger

أَمِينٌ

trustworthy

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ١٧٩

"So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me.

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ

So fear Allah

وَأَطِيعُونِ

keep your duty to Him

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ١٨٠

"No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ

No reward do I ask of you for it

إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)

۞ أَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُخْسِرِينَ ١٨١

"Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others).

۞ أَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ

Give full measure

وَلَا تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُخْسِرِينَ

and cause no loss (to others)

وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ ١٨٢

"And weigh with the true and straight balance.

وَزِنُوا

And weigh

بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ

with the true and straight balance

وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ ١٨٣

"And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land.

وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ

And defraud not people by reducing their things

وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ

nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land

وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالْجِبِلَّةَ الْأَوَّلِينَ ١٨٤

"And fear Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old."

وَاتَّقُوا

And fear

الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ

Him Who created you

وَالْجِبِلَّةَ الْأَوَّلِينَ

and the generations of the men of old.

قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ ١٨٥

They said: "You are only one of those bewitched!

قَالُوا إِنَّمَا

You are only

أَنتَ مِنَ

one of those bewitched

وَمَا أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ ١٨٦

"You are but a human being like us and verily, we think that you are one of the liars!

وَمَا أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا

You are but a human being like us

وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ

and verily, we think that you are one of the liars!

فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ ١٨٧

"So cause a piece of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful!"

فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا

So cause to fall upon us

كِسَفًا مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ

a piece of the heaven

إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

if you are of the truthful!

قَالَ رَبِّي أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ ١٨٨

He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do."

قَالَ رَبِّي

He said: 'My Lord'

أَعْلَمُ بِمَا

is the Best Knower of what

تَعْمَلُونَ

you do.

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ١٨٩

But they belied him, so the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them, indeed that was the torment of a Great Day.

فَكَذَّبُوهُ

But they belied him,

فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ ۚ

so the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them,

إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

indeed that was the torment of a Great Day.

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ١٩٠

Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers.

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ

Verily, in this

لَآيَةً ۖ

is indeed a sign,

وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم

yet most of them

مُّؤْمِنِينَ

are not believers.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ ١٩١

And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ

And verily! Your Lord,

لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ

He is indeed the All-Mighty,

الرَّحِيمُ

the Most Merciful.
