وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٣٣
And verily, Lout (Lot) was one of the Messengers.
- وَإِنَّ لُوطًا
- And verily, Lout (Lot)
- لَّمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
- was one of the Messengers
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ ١٣٤
When We saved him and his family, all,
- إِذْ نَجَّيْنَاهُ
- When We saved him
- وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ
- and his family, all
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ ١٣٥
Except an old woman (his wife) who was among those who remained behind.
- إِلَّا عَجُوزًا

- فِي الْغَابِرِينَ
- (his wife) who was among those who remained behind
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ ١٣٦
Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir].

وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ ١٣٧
Verily, you pass by them in the morning.
- وَإِنَّكُمْ
- Verily, you
- لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم
- pass by them
- مُّصْبِحِينَ
- in the morning
وَبِاللَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ١٣٨
And at night; will you not then reflect?
- وَبِاللَّيْلِ ۗ
- And at night;
- أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
- will you not then reflect?
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٣٩
And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers.
- وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ
- And, verily, Yunus (Jonah)
- لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
- was one of the Messengers
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ ١٤٠
When he ran to the laden ship,
- إِذْ أَبَقَ
- When he ran away
- إِلَى الْفُلْكِ
- to the ship
- الْمَشْحُونِ
- that was laden
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِينَ ١٤١
He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers,
- فَسَاهَمَ
- He (agreed to) cast lots
- فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِينَ
- and he was among the losers
فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ ١٤٢
Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame.
- فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوتُ
- Then a (big) fish swallowed him
- وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ
- and he had done an act worthy of blame
فَلَوْلَا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ ١٤٣
Had he not been of them who glorify Allah,
- فَلَوْلَا أَنَّهُ
- Had he not been
- كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ
- of them who glorify Allah
لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطْنِهِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ ١٤٤
He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection.
- لَلَبِثَ
- He would have indeed remained
- فِي بَطْنِهِ

- إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ
- till the Day
- يُبْعَثُونَ

۞ فَنَبَذْنَاهُ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ ١٤٥
But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick,
- ۞ فَنَبَذْنَاهُ
- But We cast him forth
- بِالْعَرَاءِ
- on the naked shore
- وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ
- while he was sick
وَأَنبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ ١٤٦
And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him.
- وَأَنبَتْنَا
- And We caused to grow
- عَلَيْهِ
- over him
- شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ
- a plant of gourd
وَأَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ ١٤٧
And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more.
- وَأَرْسَلْنَاهُ
- And We sent him
- إِلَىٰ مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ
- to a hundred thousand (people)
- أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ
- or even more
فَآمَنُوا فَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ ١٤٨
And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while.
- فَآمَنُوا
- And they believed
- فَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ
- so We gave them enjoyment
- إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
- for a while
