۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ ٨٣

And, verily, among those who followed his [Nuh's (Noah)] way (Islamic Monotheism) was Ibrahim (Abraham).

۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِ
And, verily, among those who followed his

إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّهُ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ ٨٤

When he came to his Lord with a pure heart [attached to Allah Alone and none else, worshipping none but Allah Alone true Islamic Monotheism, pure from the filth of polytheism].

إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّهُ

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ ٨٥

When he said to his father and to his people: "What is it that which you worship?

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ

and to his people
مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ
What is it that which you worship?

أَئِفْكًا آلِهَةً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ ٨٦

"Is it a falsehood aliha (gods) other than Allah that you seek?

أَئِفْكًا
Is it a falsehood
آلِهَةً دُونَ اللَّهِ
gods other than Allah
تُرِيدُونَ
that you seek?

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ٨٧

"Then what do you think about the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?"

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم
Then what do you think
بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
about the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِي النُّجُومِ ٨٨

Then he cast a glance at the stars (to deceive them),

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً
Then he cast a glance
فِي النُّجُومِ
at the stars

فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٌ ٨٩

And he said: "Verily, I am sick (with plague. He did this trick to remain in their temple of idols to destroy them and not to accompany them to the pagan's feast)."

فَقَالَ
And he said:
إِنِّي سَقِيمٌ
Verily, I am sick (with plague).

فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ ٩٠

So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease).

فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ

and departed (for fear of the disease)

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰ آلِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ ٩١

Then he turned to their aliha (gods) and said: "Will you not eat (of the offering before you)?

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰ آلِهَتِهِمْ
Then he turned to their aliha (gods)
فَقَالَ
and said:
أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ
Will you not eat (of the offering before you)?

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ ٩٢

"What is the matter with you that you speak not?"

مَا لَكُمْ
What is the matter with you
لَا تَنطِقُونَ
that you speak not?

فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًا بِالْيَمِينِ ٩٣

Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand.

فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ
Then he turned upon them
ضَرْبًا بِالْيَمِينِ
striking (them) with (his) right hand

فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ ٩٤

Then they (the worshippers of idols) came, towards him, hastening.

فَأَقْبَلُوا
Then they came
إِلَيْهِ
towards him
يَزِفُّونَ
hastening

قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ ٩٥

He said: "Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve?

قَالَ
He said:
أَتَعْبُدُونَ
Worship you
مَا تَنْحِتُونَ
that which you (yourselves) carve?

وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ ٩٦

"While Allah has created you and what you make!"

وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ
While Allah has created you
وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
and what you make

قَالُوا ابْنُوا لَهُ بُنْيَانًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ ٩٧

They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!"

قَالُوا
They said:
ابْنُوا لَهُ بُنْيَانًا
Build for him a building
فَأَلْقُوهُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ
and throw him into the blazing fire!

فَأَرَادُوا بِهِ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ الْأَسْفَلِينَ ٩٨

So they plotted a plot against him, but We made them the lowest.

فَأَرَادُوا بِهِ كَيْدًا
So they plotted a plot against him,
فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ الْأَسْفَلِينَ
but We made them the lowest.

وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ ٩٩

And he said (after his rescue from the fire): "Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!"

وَقَالَ
And he said
إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي
Verily, I am going to my Lord.
سَيَهْدِينِ
He will guide me!

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ ١٠٠

"My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous."

رَبِّ
My Lord!
هَبْ لِي
Grant me
مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
(offspring) from the righteous.

فَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِغُلَامٍ حَلِيمٍ ١٠١

So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy.

فَبَشَّرْنَاهُ
So We gave him the glad tidings
بِغُلَامٍ حَلِيمٍ
of a forbearing boy

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْيَ قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ إِنِّي أَرَىٰ فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذْبَحُكَ فَانظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَا أَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِي إِن شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ ١٠٢

And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, in sha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)."

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْيَ
And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him,
قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ إِنِّي
he said: 'O my son!'
أَرَىٰ فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي
I have seen in a dream
أَذْبَحُكَ فَانظُرْ
that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah),
مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ
so look what you think!'
يَا أَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا
He said: 'O my father!
تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِي إِن
Do that which you are commanded,
شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ
Insha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me
of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.).

فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ ١٠٣

Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering);

فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا
Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allah)
وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ
and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering)

وَنَادَيْنَاهُ أَن يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ ١٠٤

And We called out to him: "O Abraham!

وَنَادَيْنَاهُ
And We called out to him
أَن يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ
O Abraham

قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ ١٠٥

You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112).

قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا ۚ
You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ
Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112).

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلَاءُ الْمُبِينُ ١٠٦

Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial

إِنَّ
Verily,
هَٰذَا

لَهُوَ

الْبَلَاءُ
a manifest trial
الْمُبِينُ

وَفَدَيْنَاهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ ١٠٧

And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. a ram);

وَفَدَيْنَاهُ
And We ransomed him
بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ
with a great sacrifice (i.e. a ram)

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ ١٠٨

And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times.

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ
And We left for him
فِي الْآخِرِينَ
among generations (to come) in later times

سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ١٠٩

Salamun (peace) be upon Ibrahim (Abraham)!"

سَلَامٌ

كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ ١١٠

Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112).

the Muhsinun (good-doers)

إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١١١

Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves.

إِنَّهُ

مِنْ عِبَادِنَا
was one of Our slaves
الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
believing

وَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِإِسْحَاقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ الصَّالِحِينَ ١١٢

And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaque (Isaac) a Prophet from the righteous.

وَبَشَّرْنَاهُ
And We gave him the glad tidings
بِإِسْحَاقَ
of Ishaque (Isaac)
نَبِيًّا مِّنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
a Prophet from the righteous

وَبَارَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ إِسْحَاقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِ مُبِينٌ ١١٣

We blessed him and Ishaque (Isaac), and of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves.

وَبَارَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ
We blessed him
وَعَلَىٰ إِسْحَاقَ ۚ
and Isaac
وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا
and of their progeny
مُحْسِنٌ
(some) that do right
وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِ
and some that plainly wrong themselves
