فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ الْبَنُونَ ١٤٩

Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?"

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ

Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW)

أَلِرَبِّكَ

Are there (only) for your Lord

الْبَنَاتُ

daughters

وَلَهُمُ

and for them

الْبَنُونَ

sons?

أَمْ خَلَقْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِنَاثًا وَهُمْ شَاهِدُونَ ١٥٠

Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses?

أَمْ خَلَقْنَا

Or did We create

الْمَلَائِكَةَ

the angels

إِنَاثًا

females

وَهُمْ

while they

شَاهِدُونَ

were witnesses?

أَلَا إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ ١٥١

Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say:

أَلَا إِنَّهُم

Verily, it is

مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ

of their falsehood that

لَيَقُولُونَ

they (Quraish pagans) say:

وَلَدَ اللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ ١٥٢

"Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars!

وَلَدَ اللَّهُ

Allah has begotten offspring or children

وَإِنَّهُمْ

And, verily, they

لَكَاذِبُونَ

are liars!

أَصْطَفَى الْبَنَاتِ عَلَى الْبَنِينَ ١٥٣

Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons?

أَصْطَفَى

Has He (then) chosen

الْبَنَاتِ

daughters

عَلَى

rather than

الْبَنِينَ

sons?

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ ١٥٤

What is the matter with you? How do you decide?

مَا لَكُمْ

What is the matter with you?

كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ

How do you decide?

أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ١٥٥

Will you not then remember?

أَفَلَا

Will you not

تَذَكَّرُونَ

then remember?

أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَانٌ مُّبِينٌ ١٥٦

Or is there for you a plain authority?

أَمْ لَكُمْ

Or is there for you

سُلْطَانٌ مُّبِينٌ

a plain authority?

فَأْتُوا بِكِتَابِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ ١٥٧

Then bring your Book if you are truthful!

فَأْتُوا بِكِتَابِكُمْ

Then bring your Book

إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

if you are truthful!

وَجَعَلُوا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ الْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ ١٥٨

And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts).

وَجَعَلُوا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ

And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns,

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ الْجِنَّةُ

but the jinns know well that

إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ

they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts).

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ١٥٩

Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him!

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ

Glorified is Allah!

عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

(He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him!

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ ١٦٠

Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah).

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ

Except the slaves of Allah

الْمُخْلَصِينَ

whom He chooses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah)

فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ ١٦١

So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols).

فَإِنَّكُمْ

So, verily you (pagans)

وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ

and those whom you worship (idols)

مَا أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَاتِنِينَ ١٦٢

Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers],

مَا أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ

Cannot lead astray

بِفَاتِنِينَ

[turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers]

إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ الْجَحِيمِ ١٦٣

Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell!

إِلَّا مَنْ

Except those who

هُوَ صَالِ الْجَحِيمِ

are predestined to burn in Hell!

وَمَا مِنَّا إِلَّا لَهُ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ ١٦٤

There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position);

وَمَا مِنَّا

There is not one of us

إِلَّا لَهُ

but has his

مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ

known place (or position)

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الصَّافُّونَ ١٦٥

Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers);

وَإِنَّا

Verily, we

لَنَحْنُ الصَّافُّونَ

we (angels), we stand in rows

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْمُسَبِّحُونَ ١٦٦

Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers).

وَإِنَّا

Verily, we

لَنَحْنُ

we (angels), we are

الْمُسَبِّحُونَ

they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers)

وَإِن كَانُوا لَيَقُولُونَ ١٦٧

And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say;

وَإِن كَانُوا

And indeed they

لَيَقُولُونَ

used to say

لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ ١٦٨

"If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah).

لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا

If we had

ذِكْرًا مِّنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ

a reminder as had the men of old

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ ١٦٩

"We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!"

لَكُنَّا

We would have indeed been

عِبَادَ اللَّهِ

the chosen slaves of Allah

الْمُخْلَصِينَ

(true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!

فَكَفَرُوا بِهِ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ ١٧٠

But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know!

فَكَفَرُوا بِهِ ۖ

But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein

فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ

so they will come to know!
