وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ أَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ شُهَدَاءُ إِلَّا أَنفُسُهُمْ فَشَهَادَةُ أَحَدِهِمْ أَرْبَعُ شَهَادَاتٍ بِاللَّهِ ۙ إِنَّهُ لَمِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ ٦

And for those who accuse their wives, but have no witnesses except themselves, let the testimony of one of them be four testimonies (i.e. testifies four times) by Allah that he is one of those who speak the truth.

وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ أَزْوَاجَهُمْ

And for those who accuse their wives,

وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ شُهَدَاءُ إِلَّا أَنفُسُهُمْ

فَشَهَادَةُ أَحَدِهِمْ أَرْبَعُ شَهَادَاتٍ بِاللَّهِ ۙ

let the testimony of one of them be four testimonies (i.e. testifies four times) by Allah

إِنَّهُ لَمِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

that he is one of those who speak the truth.

وَالْخَامِسَةُ أَنَّ لَعْنَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ ٧

And the fifth (testimony) (should be) the invoking of the Curse of Allah on him if he be of those who tell a lie (against her).

وَالْخَامِسَةُ

And the fifth (testimony)

أَنَّ لَعْنَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ

should be the invoking of the Curse of Allah on him

إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ

if he be of those who tell a lie (against her)

وَيَدْرَأُ عَنْهَا الْعَذَابَ أَن تَشْهَدَ أَرْبَعَ شَهَادَاتٍ بِاللَّهِ ۙ إِنَّهُ لَمِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ ٨

But it shall avert the punishment (of stoning to death) from her, if she bears witness four times by Allah, that he (her husband) is telling a lie.

وَيَدْرَأُ عَنْهَا الْعَذَابَ

But it shall avert the punishment

أَن تَشْهَدَ أَرْبَعَ شَهَادَاتٍ بِاللَّهِ ۙ

if she bears witness four times by Allah

إِنَّهُ لَمِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ

that he (her husband) is telling a lie

وَالْخَامِسَةَ أَنَّ غَضَبَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا إِن كَانَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ ٩

And the fifth (testimony) should be that the Wrath of Allah be upon her if he (her husband) speaks the truth.

وَالْخَامِسَةَ

And the fifth (testimony)

أَنَّ غَضَبَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا

should be that the Wrath of Allah be upon her

إِن كَانَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

if he (her husband) speaks the truth

وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ تَوَّابٌ حَكِيمٌ ١٠

And had it not been for the Grace of Allah and His Mercy on you (He would have hastened the punishment upon you)! And that Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, the All-Wise.

وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ

And had it not been for the Grace of Allah on you

وَرَحْمَتُهُ

and His Mercy

وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ تَوَّابٌ حَكِيمٌ

and that Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, the All-Wise

And had it not been for the Grace of Allah and His Mercy on you

(He would have hastened the punishment upon you)!
