لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ وَلِلنِّسَاءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ كَثُرَ ۚ نَصِيبًا مَّفْرُوضًا ٧

There is a share for men and a share for women from what is left by parents and those nearest related, whether, the property be small or large - a legal share.

لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ

There is a share for men

مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ

from what is left by parents and those nearest related

وَلِلنِّسَاءِ نَصِيبٌ

and a share for women

مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا

whether the property be small or large

قَلَّ مِنْهُ

a legal share

وَإِذَا حَضَرَ الْقِسْمَةَ أُولُو الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْيَتَامَىٰ وَالْمَسَاكِينُ فَارْزُقُوهُم مِّنْهُ وَقُولُوا لَهُمْ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوفًا ٨

And when the relatives and the orphans and Al-Masakin (the poor) are present at the time of division, give them out of the property, and speak to them words of kindness and justice.

وَإِذَا حَضَرَ الْقِسْمَةَ

And when [the time of] division is present,

أُولُو الْقُرْبَىٰ

the relatives,

وَالْيَتَامَىٰ

and the orphans,

وَالْمَسَاكِينُ

and Al-Masakin (the poor) are present,

فَارْزُقُوهُم مِّنْهُ

give them out of the property,

وَقُولُوا لَهُمْ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوفًا

and speak to them words of kindness and justice.

وَلْيَخْشَ الَّذِينَ لَوْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّةً ضِعَافًا خَافُوا عَلَيْهِمْ فَلْيَتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلْيَقُولُوا قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا ٩

And let those (executors and guardians) have the same fear in their minds as they would have for their own, if they had left weak offspring behind. So let them fear Allah and speak right words.

وَلْيَخْشَ الَّذِينَ

And let those (executors and guardians) have the same fear

لَوْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّةً ضِعَافًا

in their minds as they would have for their own, if they had left weak offspring behind.

خَافُوا عَلَيْهِمْ

So let them fear Allah

فَلْيَتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلْيَقُولُوا

and speak right words.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ الْيَتَامَىٰ ظُلْمًا إِنَّمَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِي بُطُونِهِمْ نَارًا ۖ وَسَيَصْلَوْنَ سَعِيرًا ١٠

Verily, those who unjustly eat up the property of orphans, they eat up only a fire into their bellies, and they will be burnt in the blazing Fire!

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ الْيَتَامَىٰ ظُلْمًا

Verily, those who unjustly eat up the property of orphans,

إِنَّمَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِي بُطُونِهِمْ نَارًا ۖ

they eat up only a fire into their bellies,

وَسَيَصْلَوْنَ سَعِيرًا

and they will be burnt in the blazing Fire!

يُوصِيكُمُ اللَّهُ فِي أَوْلَادِكُمْ ۖ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۚ فَإِن كُنَّ نِسَاءً فَوْقَ اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَ ۖ وَإِن كَانَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَلَهَا النِّصْفُ ۚ وَلِأَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ إِن كَانَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُ وَلَدٌ وَوَرِثَهُ أَبَوَاهُ فَلِأُمِّهِ الثُّلُثُ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُ إِخْوَةٌ فَلِأُمِّهِ السُّدُسُ ۚ مِن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِي بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۗ آبَاؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَاؤُكُمْ لَا تَدْرُونَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعًا ۚ فَرِيضَةً مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا ١١

Allah commands you as regards your children's (inheritance); to the male, a portion equal to that of two females; if (there are) only daughters, two or more, their share is two thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is half. For parents, a sixth share of inheritance to each if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased left brothers or (sisters), the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all cases is) after the payment of legacies he may have bequeathed or debts. You know not which of them, whether your parents or your children, are nearest to you in benefit, (these fixed shares) are ordained by Allah. And Allah is Ever All-Knower, All-Wise.

يُوصِيكُمُ اللَّهُ فِي أَوْلَادِكُمْ ۖ

Allah commands you as regards your children's (inheritance);

لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۚ

فَإِن كُنَّ نِسَاءً فَوْقَ اثْنَتَيْنِ

فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَ ۖ

For parents, a sixth share of inheritance to each if the deceased left children;

إِن كَانَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُن

if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs,

لَّهُ وَلَدٌ

the mother has a third;

وَوَرِثَهُ أَبَوَاهُ فَلِأُمِّهِ الثُّلُثُ ۚ

if the deceased left brothers or (sisters),

فَإِن كَانَ

the mother has a sixth.

لَهُ إِخْوَةٌ فَلِأُمِّهِ السُّدُسُ ۚ مِن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ

(The distribution in all cases is) after the payment of legacies he may have bequeathed or debts.

يُوصِي بِهَا

You know not which of them, whether your parents or your children,

أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۗ آبَاؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَاؤُكُمْ لَا تَدْرُونَ

are nearest to you in benefit,

أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ

(these fixed shares) are ordained by Allah.

نَفْعًا ۚ فَرِيضَةً مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ

And Allah is Ever All-Knower, All-Wise.

۞ وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ أَزْوَاجُكُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُنَّ وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ ۚ مِن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِينَ بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۚ وَلَهُنَّ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّكُمْ وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ الثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُم ۚ مِّن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۗ وَإِن كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَالَةً أَوِ امْرَأَةٌ وَلَهُ أَخٌ أَوْ أُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ ۚ فَإِن كَانُوا أَكْثَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ فِي الثُّلُثِ ۚ مِن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصَىٰ بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ غَيْرَ مُضَارٍّ ۚ وَصِيَّةً مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَلِيمٌ ١٢

In that which your wives leave, your share is a half if they have no child; but if they leave a child, you get a fourth of that which they leave after payment of legacies that they may have bequeathed or debts. In that which you leave, their (your wives) share is a fourth if you leave no child; but if you leave a child, they get an eighth of that which you leave after payment of legacies that you may have bequeathed or debts. If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question has left neither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a brother or a sister, each one of the two gets a sixth; but if more than two, they share in a third; after payment of lagacies he (or she) may have bequeathed or debts, so that no loss is caused (to anyone). This is a Commandment from Allah; and Allah is Ever All-Knowing, Most-Forbearing.

۞ وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ أَزْوَاجُكُمْ

In that which your wives leave, your share is a half

إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُنَّ وَلَدٌ ۚ

if they have no child;

فَإِن كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ

but if they leave a child,

you get a fourth of that which they leave

مِن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِينَ بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۚ

وَلَهُنَّ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ

In that which you leave, their (your wives) share is a fourth

إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّكُمْ وَلَدٌ ۚ

if you leave no child;

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ

but if you leave a child,

فَلَهُنَّ الثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُم ۚ

they get an eighth of that which you leave

مِّن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۗ

after payment of legacies that you may have bequeathed or debts.

وَإِن كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَالَةً أَوِ امْرَأَةٌ

If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question

وَلَهُ أَخٌ أَوْ أُخْتٌ

has left neither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a brother or a sister,

فَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ ۚ

each one of the two gets a sixth;

فَإِن كَانُوا أَكْثَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ

but if more than two,

فَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ فِي الثُّلُثِ ۚ

they share in a third;

مِن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصَىٰ بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ

after payment of legacies he (or she) may have bequeathed or debts,

غَيْرَ مُضَارٍّ ۚ

so that no loss is caused (to anyone).

وَصِيَّةً مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ

This is a Commandment from Allah;

وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَلِيمٌ

and Allah is Ever All-Knowing, Most-Forbearing.
