The Role of Angels and the Blowing of the Trumpet

وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقًا ١
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence;
- وَالنَّازِعَاتِ
- And by those (angels)

وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا ٢
By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers);
- وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا
- By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers)
وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحًا ٣
And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.).
- وَالسَّابِحَاتِ
- And by those that swim along
- سَبْحًا
- (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.)
فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقًا ٤
And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.).
- فَالسَّابِقَاتِ
- And by those that press forward
- سَبْقًا
- as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.)
فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرًا ٥
And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account).
- فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرًا
- And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ ٦
On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die),
- يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ
- On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown)
- the earth and the mountains will shake violently
- and
- everybody
- will die
تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ ٧
The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up),

قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ ٨
(Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety.

- will shake with fear and anxiety
أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ ٩
Their eyes cast down.

يَقُولُونَ أَإِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ ١٠
They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life?
- يَقُولُونَ

- أَإِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ
- Shall we indeed be returned
- فِي الْحَافِرَةِ
- to (our) former state of life?
أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَّخِرَةً ١١
"Even after we are crumbled bones?"
- أَإِذَا كُنَّا

قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ ١٢
They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!"
- قَالُوا

- It would in that case,
- كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ
- be a return with loss!
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ ١٣
But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19).
