وَإِذْ غَدَوْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِكَ تُبَوِّئُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَقَاعِدَ لِلْقِتَالِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ ١٢١
And (remember) when you (Muhammad SAW) left your household in the morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle (of Uhud). And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
- وَإِذْ غَدَوْتَ
- And (remember) when you (Muhammad SAW) left
- مِنْ أَهْلِكَ
- your household
- تُبَوِّئُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
- to post the believers
- مَقَاعِدَ لِلْقِتَالِ ۗ
- at their stations for the battle
- وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
- And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower
إِذْ هَمَّت طَّائِفَتَانِ مِنكُمْ أَن تَفْشَلَا وَاللَّهُ وَلِيُّهُمَا ۗ وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ١٢٢
When two parties from among you were about to lose heart, but Allah was their Wali (Supporter and Protector). And in Allah should the believers put their trust.
- إِذْ هَمَّت طَّائِفَتَانِ مِنكُمْ
- When two parties from among you
- أَن تَفْشَلَا
- were about to lose heart
- وَاللَّهُ وَلِيُّهُمَا ۗ
- but Allah was their Wali (Supporter and Protector)
- وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ
- And in Allah should the believers put their trust
وَلَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ اللَّهُ بِبَدْرٍ وَأَنتُمْ أَذِلَّةٌ ۖ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ ١٢٣
And Allah has already made you victorious at Badr, when you were a weak little force. So fear Allah much [abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden and love Allah much, perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained] that you may be grateful.
- وَلَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ اللَّهُ بِبَدْرٍ
- And Allah has already made you victorious at Badr,
- وَأَنتُمْ أَذِلَّةٌ ۖ
- when you were a weak little force.
- فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ
- So fear Allah much
- لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
- that you may be grateful.
إِذْ تَقُولُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَلَن يَكْفِيَكُمْ أَن يُمِدَّكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِثَلَاثَةِ آلَافٍ مِّنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ مُنزَلِينَ ١٢٤
(Remember) when you (Muhammad SAW) said to the believers, "Is it not enough for you that your Lord (Allah) should help you with three thousand angels; sent down?"
- إِذْ تَقُولُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
- (Remember) when you (Muhammad SAW) said to the believers,
- أَلَن يَكْفِيَكُمْ
- Is it not enough for you
- أَن يُمِدَّكُمْ رَبُّكُم
- that your Lord (Allah) should help you
- بِثَلَاثَةِ آلَافٍ مِّنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ
- with three thousand angels;
- مُنزَلِينَ
- sent down?
بَلَىٰ ۚ إِن تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا وَيَأْتُوكُم مِّن فَوْرِهِمْ هَٰذَا يُمْدِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِخَمْسَةِ آلَافٍ مِّنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ مُسَوِّمِينَ ١٢٥
"Yes, if you hold on to patience and piety, and the enemy comes rushing at you; your Lord will help you with five thousand angels having marks (of distinction)."
- بَلَىٰ ۚ
- Yes,
- إِن تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا
- if you hold on to patience and piety,
- وَيَأْتُوكُم مِّن فَوْرِهِمْ هَٰذَا
- and the enemy comes rushing at you;
- يُمْدِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِخَمْسَةِ آلَافٍ مِّنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ مُسَوِّمِينَ
- your Lord will help you with five thousand angels having marks (of distinction).
وَمَا جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بُشْرَىٰ لَكُمْ وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُكُم بِهِ ۗ وَمَا النَّصْرُ إِلَّا مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَكِيمِ ١٢٦
Allah made it not but as a message of good news for you and as an assurance to your hearts. And there is no victory except from Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
- وَمَا جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بُشْرَىٰ لَكُمْ
- Allah made it not but as a message of good news for you
- وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُكُم بِهِ ۗ
- and as an assurance to your hearts.
- وَمَا النَّصْرُ إِلَّا مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ
- And there is no victory except from Allah,
- الْعَزِيزِ الْحَكِيمِ
- the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
لِيَقْطَعَ طَرَفًا مِّنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَوْ يَكْبِتَهُمْ فَيَنقَلِبُوا خَائِبِينَ ١٢٧
That He might cut off a part of those who disbelieve, or expose them to infamy, so that they retire frustrated.
- لِيَقْطَعَ طَرَفًا
- That He might cut off a part
- مِّنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا
- of those who disbelieve
- أَوْ يَكْبِتَهُمْ
- or expose them to infamy
- فَيَنقَلِبُوا خَائِبِينَ
- so that they retire frustrated
لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ ١٢٨
Not for you (O Muhammad SAW, but for Allah) is the decision; whether He turns in mercy to (pardons) them or punishes them; verily, they are the Zalimun (polytheists, disobedients, and wrong-doers, etc.).
- لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ
- Not for you (O Muhammad SAW, but for Allah) is the decision;
- أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ
- whether He turns in mercy to (pardons) them
- أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ
- or punishes them;
- فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ
- verily, they are the Zalimun (polytheists, disobedients, and wrong-doers, etc.).
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۚ يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَاءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ١٢٩
And to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. He forgives whom He wills, and punishes whom He wills. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
- وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۚ
- And to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth.
- يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَاءُ
- He forgives whom He wills,
- وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَاءُ ۚ
- and punishes whom He wills.
- وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
- And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
