وَأَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ ٤١

And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand?

وَأَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ

And those on the Left Hand

مَا أَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ

Who will be those on the Left Hand?

فِي سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ ٤٢

In fierce hot wind and boiling water,

فِي سَمُومٍ

In fierce hot wind

وَحَمِيمٍ

and boiling water

وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ ٤٣

And shadow of black smoke,

وَظِلٍّ

And shadow

مِّن يَحْمُومٍ

of black smoke

لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ ٤٤

(That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good,

لَّا بَارِدٍ

neither cool

وَلَا كَرِيمٍ

nor (even) good

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ ٤٥

Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury,

إِنَّهُمْ

Verily, they

كَانُوا

were

قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ

before that

مُتْرَفِينَ

indulged in luxury

وَكَانُوا يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى الْحِنثِ الْعَظِيمِ ٤٦

And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.)

وَكَانُوا يُصِرُّونَ

And were persisting

عَلَى الْحِنثِ الْعَظِيمِ

in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.)

وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ٤٧

And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected?

وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ

And they used to say:

أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا

When we die and become dust and bones,

أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ

shall we then indeed be resurrected?

أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ ٤٨

"And also our forefathers?"

أَوَآبَاؤُنَا

And also our forefathers

الْأَوَّلُونَ

قُلْ إِنَّ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ ٤٩

Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times.

قُلْ إِنَّ

Say (O Muhammad SAW):

الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ

(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times.

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ٥٠

"All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day.

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ

All will surely be gathered together

إِلَىٰ مِيقَاتِ

for appointed Meeting of

يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ

a known Day

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا الضَّالُّونَ الْمُكَذِّبُونَ ٥١

"Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)!

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ

Then moreover, verily, you

أَيُّهَا الضَّالُّونَ

the erring-ones,

الْمُكَذِّبُونَ

the deniers (of Resurrection)!

لَآكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ ٥٢

"You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum.

لَآكِلُونَ

You verily will eat

مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ

of the trees of Zaqqum

فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ ٥٣

"Then you will fill your bellies therewith,

فَمَالِئُونَ

Then you will fill

مِنْهَا

your bellies therewith

فَشَارِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَمِيمِ ٥٤

"And drink boiling water on top of it,

فَشَارِبُونَ

And drink

عَلَيْهِ

on top of it

مِنَ الْحَمِيمِ

boiling water

فَشَارِبُونَ شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ ٥٥

"So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!"

فَشَارِبُونَ

So you will drink

شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ

like thirsty camels!

هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ الدِّينِ ٥٦

That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense!

هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ

That will be their entertainment

يَوْمَ الدِّينِ

on the Day of Recompense!
