فَلَوْلَا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ ٨٣

Then why do you not (intervene) when (the soul of a dying person) reaches the throat?

فَلَوْلَا

Then why do you not

إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ

(intervene) when (the soul of a dying person) reaches the throat

وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ ٨٤

And you at the moment are looking on,

وَأَنتُمْ

And you

حِينَئِذٍ

at the moment

تَنظُرُونَ

are looking on

وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ ٨٥

But We (i.e. Our angels who take the soul) are nearer to him than you, but you see not, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 27, Page 209]

وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ

But We are nearer to him

مِنكُمْ

than you

وَلَٰكِن

but

لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ

you see not

فَلَوْلَا إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ ٨٦

Then why do you not, if you are exempt from the reckoning and recompense (punishment, etc.)

فَلَوْلَا

Then why do you not

إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ

if you are exempt from the reckoning and recompense (punishment, etc.)

تَرْجِعُونَهَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ ٨٧

Bring back the soul (to its body), if you are truthful?

تَرْجِعُونَهَا

Bring back (the soul)

إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

if you are truthful?

فَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ ٨٨

Then, if he (the dying person) be of the Muqarrabun (those brought near to Allah),

فَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ

Then, if he (the dying person) be

مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ

of the Muqarrabun (those brought near to Allah)

فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ ٨٩

(There is for him) rest and provision, and a Garden of delights (Paradise).

فَرَوْحٌ

(There is for him) rest

وَرَيْحَانٌ

and provision

وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ

and a Garden of delights (Paradise)

وَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ ٩٠

And if he (the dying person) be of those on the Right Hand,

وَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ

And if he be

مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ

of those on the Right Hand

فَسَلَامٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ ٩١

Then there is safety and peace (from the Punishment of Allah) for (you as you are from) those on the Right Hand.

فَسَلَامٌ لَّكَ

Then there is safety and peace for (you)

مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ

(from the Punishment of Allah) as you are from those on the Right Hand.

وَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ الضَّالِّينَ ٩٢

But if he (the dying person) be of the denying (of the Resurrection), the erring (away from the Right Path of Islamic Monotheism),

وَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ

But if he (the dying person) be

مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ

of the denying (of the Resurrection),

الضَّالِّينَ

the erring (away from the Right Path of Islamic Monotheism),

فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ ٩٣

Then for him is entertainment with boiling water.

فَنُزُلٌ

Then for him is entertainment

مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ

with boiling water

وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ ٩٤

And burning in Hell-fire.

وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ

And burning in Hell-fire

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الْيَقِينِ ٩٥

Verily, this! This is an absolute Truth with certainty.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا

Verily, this!

لَهُوَ حَقُّ الْيَقِينِ

This is an absolute Truth with certainty.

فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ ٩٦

So glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great.

فَسَبِّحْ

So glorify with praises

بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ

the Name of your Lord

الْعَظِيمِ

the Most Great
