إِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ ١

When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls.

إِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ

When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls

لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ٢

And there can be no denying of its befalling.

لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا

there can be no denying of its befalling

كَاذِبَةٌ

no denying

خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ ٣

It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt;

خَافِضَةٌ

It will bring low (some)

رَّافِعَةٌ

(and others) it will exalt

إِذَا رُجَّتِ الْأَرْضُ رَجًّا ٤

When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake.

إِذَا رُجَّتِ الْأَرْضُ

When the earth will be shaken

رَجًّا

with a terrible shake

وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبَالُ بَسًّا ٥

And the mountains will be powdered to dust.

وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبَالُ

And the mountains will be

بَسًّا

powdered to dust.

فَكَانَتْ هَبَاءً مُّنبَثًّا ٦

So that they will become floating dust particles.

فَكَانَتْ

So that they will become

هَبَاءً

floating dust particles

مُّنبَثًّا

وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَاجًا ثَلَاثَةً ٧

And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups).

وَكُنتُمْ

And you (all)

أَزْوَاجًا ثَلَاثَةً

will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups)

فَأَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ ٨

So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise).

فَأَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ

So those on the Right Hand

مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ

Who will be those on the Right Hand?

وَأَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ ٩

And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell).

وَأَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ

And those on the Left Hand

مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ

Who will be those on the Left Hand?

وَالسَّابِقُونَ السَّابِقُونَ ١٠

And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise).

وَالسَّابِقُونَ السَّابِقُونَ

And those foremost

(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds)

in the life of this world

on the very first call for to embrace Islam,

will be foremost

(in Paradise)

أُولَٰئِكَ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ١١

These will be those nearest to Allah.

أُولَٰئِكَ

These will be

الْمُقَرَّبُونَ

those nearest to Allah

فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ ١٢

In the Gardens of delight (Paradise).
