Divine Protection and Reunion with His Mother

وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَرْضِعِيهِ ۖ فَإِذَا خِفْتِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَلْقِيهِ فِي الْيَمِّ وَلَا تَخَافِي وَلَا تَحْزَنِي ۖ إِنَّا رَادُّوهُ إِلَيْكِ وَجَاعِلُوهُ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ٧
And We inspired the mother of Musa (Moses), (saying): "Suckle him [Musa (Moses)], but when you fear for him, then cast him into the river and fear not, nor grieve. Verily! We shall bring him back to you, and shall make him one of (Our) Messengers."
- وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ
- And We inspired the mother of Musa (Moses),
- أَنْ أَرْضِعِيهِ ۖ
- (saying): 'Suckle him [Musa (Moses)],
- فَإِذَا خِفْتِ عَلَيْهِ
- but when you fear for him,
- فَأَلْقِيهِ فِي الْيَمِّ
- then cast him into the river
- وَلَا تَخَافِي وَلَا تَحْزَنِي ۖ
- and fear not, nor grieve.
- إِنَّا رَادُّوهُ إِلَيْكِ
- Verily! We shall bring him back to you,
- وَجَاعِلُوهُ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
- and shall make him one of (Our) Messengers.
فَالْتَقَطَهُ آلُ فِرْعَوْنَ لِيَكُونَ لَهُمْ عَدُوًّا وَحَزَنًا ۗ إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَانَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا كَانُوا خَاطِئِينَ ٨
Then the household of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) picked him up, that he might become for them an enemy and a (cause of) grief. Verily! Fir'aun (Pharaoh), Haman and their hosts were sinners.
- فَالْتَقَطَهُ آلُ فِرْعَوْنَ
- Then the household of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) picked him up,
- لِيَكُونَ لَهُمْ عَدُوًّا وَحَزَنًا ۗ
- that he might become for them an enemy and a (cause of) grief.
- إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَانَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا
- Verily! Fir'aun (Pharaoh), Haman and their hosts
- كَانُوا خَاطِئِينَ
- were sinners.
وَقَالَتِ امْرَأَتُ فِرْعَوْنَ قُرَّتُ عَيْنٍ لِّي وَلَكَ ۖ لَا تَقْتُلُوهُ عَسَىٰ أَن يَنفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَدًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ٩
And the wife of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "A comfort of the eye for me and for you. Kill him not, perhaps he may be of benefit to us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceive not (the result of that).
- وَقَالَتِ امْرَأَتُ فِرْعَوْنَ
- And the wife of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said:
- قُرَّتُ عَيْنٍ لِّي وَلَكَ ۖ
- A comfort of the eye for me and for you.
- لَا تَقْتُلُوهُ
- Kill him not,
- عَسَىٰ أَن يَنفَعَنَا
- perhaps he may be of benefit to us,
- أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَدًا
- or we may adopt him as a son.
- وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
- And they perceive not (the result of that).
وَأَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ فَارِغًا ۖ إِن كَادَتْ لَتُبْدِي بِهِ لَوْلَا أَن رَّبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قَلْبِهَا لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١٠
And the heart of the mother of Musa (Moses) became empty [from every thought, except the thought of Musa (Moses)]. She was very near to disclose his (case, i.e. the child is her son), had We not strengthened her heart (with Faith), so that she might remain as one of the believers.
- وَأَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ فَارِغًا ۖ
- And the heart of the mother of Musa (Moses) became empty
- إِن كَادَتْ لَتُبْدِي بِهِ
- She was very near to disclose his (case, i.e. the child is her son)
- لَوْلَا أَن رَّبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قَلْبِهَا
- had We not strengthened her heart (with Faith)
- لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
- so that she might remain as one of the believers
وَقَالَتْ لِأُخْتِهِ قُصِّيهِ ۖ فَبَصُرَتْ بِهِ عَن جُنُبٍ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ١١
And she said to his [Musa's (Moses)] sister: "Follow him." So she (his sister) watched him from a far place secretly, while they perceived not.
- وَقَالَتْ لِأُخْتِهِ
- And she said to his sister
- قُصِّيهِ ۖ
- Follow him.
- فَبَصُرَتْ بِهِ
- So she watched him
- عَن جُنُبٍ
- from a far place
- وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
- secretly, while they perceived not.
۞ وَحَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَرَاضِعَ مِن قَبْلُ فَقَالَتْ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ يَكْفُلُونَهُ لَكُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُ نَاصِحُونَ ١٢
And We had already forbidden (other) foster suckling mothers for him, until she (his sister came up and) said: "Shall I direct you to a household who will rear him for you, and sincerely they will look after him in a good manner?"
- ۞ وَحَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَرَاضِعَ مِن قَبْلُ
- And We had already forbidden (other) foster suckling mothers for him,
- فَقَالَتْ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ
- until she (his sister) said: 'Shall I direct you to a household
- يَكْفُلُونَهُ لَكُمْ
- who will rear him for you,
- وَهُمْ لَهُ نَاصِحُونَ
- and sincerely they will look after him in a good manner?'
فَرَدَدْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ أُمِّهِ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ١٣
So did We restore him to his mother, that she might be delighted, and that she might not grieve, and that she might know that the Promise of Allah is true. But most of them know not.
- فَرَدَدْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ أُمِّهِ
- So did We restore him to his mother,
- كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ
- that she might be delighted, and that she might not grieve,
- وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ
- and that she might know that the Promise of Allah is true.
- وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
- But most of them know not.
