كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِالنُّذُرِ ٢٣
Thamud (people also) belied the warnings.

فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَاحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُ إِنَّا إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ ٢٤
For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!"
- فَقَالُوا
- For they said:
- أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَاحِدًا
- A man! Alone from among us,
- نَّتَّبِعُهُ
- that we are to follow?
- إِنَّا إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ
- Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!
أَأُلْقِيَ الذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِن بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ ٢٥
"Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!"
- أَأُلْقِيَ الذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ
- Is it that the Reminder is sent to him
- مِن بَيْنِنَا
- from among us?
- بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ
- Nay, he is an insolent liar!
سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ الْكَذَّابُ الْأَشِرُ ٢٦
Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one!
- سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا
- Tomorrow they will come to know
- مَّنِ الْكَذَّابُ الْأَشِرُ
- who is the liar, the insolent one!
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ ٢٧
Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih (Saleh)], and be patient!
- إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ
- Verily, We are sending the she-camel
- فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ
- as a test for them.
- فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ
- So watch them [O Salih (Saleh)],
- وَاصْطَبِرْ
- and be patient!
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ ٢٨
And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns).
- وَنَبِّئْهُمْ
- And inform them
- أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ
- that the water is to be shared between (her and) them
- كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ
- Each one's right to drink being established (by turns)
فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ ٢٩
But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her).
- فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ
- But they called their comrade

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ ٣٠
Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
- فَكَيْفَ كَانَ
- Then, how (terrible)
- عَذَابِي
- was My Torment
- وَنُذُرِ
- and My Warnings?
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمُحْتَظِرِ ٣١
Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder.
- إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ
- Verily, We sent against them
- صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً
- a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.),
- فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمُحْتَظِرِ
- and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder.
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ٣٢
And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
- وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا
- And indeed, We have made
- الْقُرْآنَ
- the Quran
- لِلذِّكْرِ
- easy
- فَهَلْ
- to understand and remember
- مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
- then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
