۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا مَجْنُونٌ وَازْدُجِرَ ٩

The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened.

۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ

The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them,

فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا

they rejected Our slave,

وَقَالُوا مَجْنُونٌ

and said: 'A madman!'

وَازْدُجِرَ

and he was insolently rebuked and threatened.

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَغْلُوبٌ فَانتَصِرْ ١٠

Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!"

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ

Then he invoked his Lord

أَنِّي مَغْلُوبٌ

saying: 'I have been overcome

فَانتَصِرْ

so help (me)!

فَفَتَحْنَا أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَاءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ ١١

So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth.

فَفَتَحْنَا

So We opened

أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ

the gates of heaven

بِمَاءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ

with water pouring forth

وَفَجَّرْنَا الْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَالْتَقَى الْمَاءُ عَلَىٰ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ ١٢

And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined.

وَفَجَّرْنَا الْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا

And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs.

فَالْتَقَى الْمَاءُ عَلَىٰ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ

So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined.

وَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ ١٣

And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails,

وَحَمَلْنَاهُ

And We carried him

عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ

on a (ship) made of planks and nails

تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَاءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ ١٤

Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected!

تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا

Floating under Our Eyes

جَزَاءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ

a reward for him who had been rejected

وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَاهَا آيَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ١٥

And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَاهَا

And indeed, We have left this

آيَةً

as a sign

فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ

then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ ١٦

Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ

Then how (terrible) was

عَذَابِي

My Torment

وَنُذُرِ

and My Warnings?

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ١٧

And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا

And We have indeed made

الْقُرْآنَ

the Quran

لِلذِّكْرِ

easy to understand and remember

فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ

then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
