أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُولَٰئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَاءَةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ ٤٣

Are your disbelievers (O Quraish!) better than these [nations of Nuh (Noah), Lout (Lot), Salih (Saleh), and the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), etc., who were destroyed)? Or have you an immunity (against Our Torment) in the Divine Scriptures?

أَكُفَّارُكُمْ

Are your disbelievers (O Quraish!)

خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُولَٰئِكُمْ

better than these [nations of Nuh (Noah), Lout (Lot), Salih (Saleh), and the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), etc., who were destroyed]?

أَمْ لَكُم بَرَاءَةٌ

Or have you an immunity

فِي الزُّبُرِ

in the Divine Scriptures?

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ ٤٤

Or do they say: "We are a great multitude, and we shall be victorious?"

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ

Or do they say:

نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ

We are a great multitude,

مُّنتَصِرٌ

and we shall be victorious?

سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ ٤٥

Their multitude will be put to flight, and they will show their backs.

سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ

Their multitude will be put to flight

وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ

and they will show their backs

بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ ٤٦

Nay, but the Hour is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the Hour will be more grievous and more bitter.

بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ

Nay, but the Hour is their appointed time

وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ

and the Hour will be more grievous and more bitter

إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ فِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ ٤٧

Verily, the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.) are in error (in this world) and will burn (in the Hell-fire in the Hereafter).

إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ

Verily, the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.)

فِي ضَلَالٍ

are in error (in this world)

وَسُعُرٍ

and will burn (in the Hell-fire in the Hereafter)

يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا مَسَّ سَقَرَ ٤٨

The Day they will be dragged in the Fire on their faces (it will be said to them): "Taste you the touch of Hell!"

يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ

The Day they will be dragged in the Fire

عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ

on their faces

ذُوقُوا مَسَّ سَقَرَ

Taste you the touch of Hell!

إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ ٤٩

Verily, We have created all things with Qadar (Divine Preordainments of all things before their creation, as written in the Book of Decrees Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).

إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ

Verily, We have created all things

خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ

with Qadar (Divine Preordainments of all things before their creation, as written in the Book of Decrees Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz)

وَمَا أَمْرُنَا إِلَّا وَاحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍ بِالْبَصَرِ ٥٠

And Our Commandment is but one, as the twinkling of an eye.

وَمَا أَمْرُنَا

And Our Commandment

إِلَّا وَاحِدَةٌ

is but one

كَلَمْحٍ بِالْبَصَرِ

as the twinkling of an eye

وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ٥١

And indeed, We have destroyed your likes, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا

And indeed, We have destroyed

أَشْيَاعَكُمْ

your likes

فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ

then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?

وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِي الزُّبُرِ ٥٢

And each and everything they have done is noted in (their) Records (of deeds).

وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ

And each and everything

فَعَلُوهُ

they have done

فِي الزُّبُرِ

is noted in (their) Records (of deeds)

وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ ٥٣

And everything, small and big is written (in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz already beforehand i.e. before it befalls, or is done by its doer) (See the Quran V. 57:22).

وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ

And everything, small and big

مُّسْتَطَرٌ

is written (in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz already beforehand i.e. before it befalls, or is done by its doer)

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَهَرٍ ٥٤

Verily, The Muttaqun (pious), will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers (Paradise).

Verily, The Muttaqun (pious)

فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَهَرٍ

will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers (Paradise)

فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ ٥٥

In a seat of truth (i.e. Paradise), near the Omnipotent King (Allah, the All-Blessed, the Most High, the Owner of Majesty and Honour).

فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ

In a seat of truth (i.e. Paradise)

عِندَ مَلِيكٍ

near the Omnipotent King

مُّقْتَدِرٍ

(Allah, the All-Blessed, the Most High, the Owner of Majesty and Honour)
