وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ ٢

And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is?

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ

And what will make you know

مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ

what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is?

لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ ٣

The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, (i.e. 83 years and 4 months).

لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ

The night of Al-Qadr (Decree)

خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ

is better than a thousand months

تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ ٤

Therein descend the angels and the Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] by Allah's Permission with all Decrees,

تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ

Therein descend the angels

وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا

and the Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] therein

بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم

by Allah's Permission

مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ

with all Decrees

سَلَامٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ ٥

Peace! (All that night, there is Peace and Goodness from Allah to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn.

حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ

(All that night, there is Peace and Goodness from Allah to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn.
