كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ ١٨

Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun.

كَلَّا

Nay!

إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْأَبْرَارِ

Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil)

لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ

is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun.

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ ١٩

And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is?

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ

And what will make you know

مَا عِلِّيُّونَ

what 'Illiyyun is?

كِتَابٌ مَّرْقُومٌ ٢٠

A Register inscribed.

يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ٢١

To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels).

those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels)

إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ ٢٢

Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise).

لَفِي نَعِيمٍ

will be in delight (Paradise)

عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ٢٣

On thrones, looking (at all things).

يَنظُرُونَ

looking (at all things)

تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ ٢٤

You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight.

نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ

the brightness of delight

يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ ٢٥

They will be given to drink pure sealed wine.

مِن رَّحِيقٍ

pure wine

مَّخْتُومٍ

sealed

خِتَامُهُ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَ ٢٦

The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah).

خِتَامُهُ مِسْكٌ ۚ

وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ

and for this

فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَ

let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah)

وَمِزَاجُهُ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ ٢٧

It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim.

وَمِزَاجُهُ

It (that wine) will be mixed

مِن تَسْنِيمٍ

with Tasnim.

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ٢٨

A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah.
