ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَارُونَ بِآيَاتِنَا وَسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ ٤٥

Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority,

ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا

Then We sent

مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَارُونَ

Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron)

بِآيَاتِنَا

with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)

وَسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ

and manifest authority

إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا وَكَانُوا قَوْمًا عَالِينَ ٤٦

To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they behaved insolently and they were people self-exalting (by disobeying their Lord, and exalting themselves over and above the Messenger of Allah).

إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ

To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs,

فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا

but they behaved insolently

وَكَانُوا قَوْمًا عَالِينَ

and they were people self-exalting (by disobeying their Lord, and exalting themselves over and above the Messenger of Allah).

فَقَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ لِبَشَرَيْنِ مِثْلِنَا وَقَوْمُهُمَا لَنَا عَابِدُونَ ٤٧

They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)."

فَقَالُوا

They said:

أَنُؤْمِنُ لِبَشَرَيْنِ مِثْلِنَا

Shall we believe in two men like ourselves,

وَقَوْمُهُمَا لَنَا عَابِدُونَ

and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like).

فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُوا مِنَ الْمُهْلَكِينَ ٤٨

So they denied them both [Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed.

فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا

So they denied them both

فَكَانُوا

and became

مِنَ الْمُهْلَكِينَ

of those who were destroyed

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ ٤٩

And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture, that they may be guided.

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا

And indeed We gave

مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ

Musa (Moses) the Scripture

لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ

that they may be guided

وَجَعَلْنَا ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُ آيَةً وَآوَيْنَاهُمَا إِلَىٰ رَبْوَةٍ ذَاتِ قَرَارٍ وَمَعِينٍ ٥٠

And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams.

وَجَعَلْنَا ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُ آيَةً

And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign

وَآوَيْنَاهُمَا إِلَىٰ رَبْوَةٍ ذَاتِ قَرَارٍ وَمَعِينٍ

And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams
