إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُ بَعِيدًا ٦

Verily! They see it (the torment) afar off,

إِنَّهُمْ

Verily! They see it (the torment) afar off

وَنَرَاهُ قَرِيبًا ٧

But We see it (quite) near.

وَنَرَاهُ

But We see it

قَرِيبًا

(quite) near

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاءُ كَالْمُهْلِ ٨

The Day that the sky will be like the boiling filth of oil, (or molten copper or silver or lead, etc.).

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاءُ

The Day that the sky will be

كَالْمُهْلِ

like the boiling filth of oil, (or molten copper or silver or lead, etc.)

وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ ٩

And the mountains will be like flakes of wool,

وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ

And the mountains will be

كَالْعِهْنِ

like flakes of wool

وَلَا يَسْأَلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا ١٠

And no friend will ask of a friend,

وَلَا يَسْأَلُ

And no ask

حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا

friend of a friend

يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ الْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِي مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍ بِبَنِيهِ ١١

Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help)], - the Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever, etc.) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children.

يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ

Though they shall be made to see one another

يَوَدُّ الْمُجْرِمُ

the Mujrim would desire

لَوْ يَفْتَدِي مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍ

to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day

بِبَنِيهِ

by his children

وَصَاحِبَتِهِ وَأَخِيهِ ١٢

And his wife and his brother,

وَصَاحِبَتِهِ

And his wife

وَأَخِيهِ

and his brother

وَفَصِيلَتِهِ الَّتِي تُؤْوِيهِ ١٣

And his kindred who sheltered him,

وَفَصِيلَتِهِ

And his kindred

الَّتِي تُؤْوِيهِ

who sheltered him

وَمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ ١٤

And all that are in the earth, so that it might save him.

وَمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا

And all that are in the earth,

ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ

so that it might save him.

كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ ١٥

By no means! Verily, it will be the Fire of Hell!

كَلَّا ۖ

By no means!

إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ

Verily, it will be the Fire of Hell!

نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَىٰ ١٦

Taking away (burning completely) the head skin!

تَدْعُو مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ١٧

Calling: "[O Kafir (O disbeliever in Allah, His angels, His Book, His Messengers, Day of Resurrection and in Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments), O Mushrik (O polytheist, disbeliever in the Oneness of Allah)] (all) such as turn their backs and turn away their faces (from Faith) [picking and swallowing them up from that great gathering of mankind (on the Day of Resurrection) just as a bird picks up a food-grain from the earth with its beak and swallows it up] [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 18, Page 289]

تَدْعُو

Calling

مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

[O Kafir (O disbeliever in Allah, His angels, His Book, His Messengers, Day of Resurrection and in Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments), O Mushrik (O polytheist, disbeliever in the Oneness of Allah)] (all) such as turn their backs and turn away their faces (from Faith)

وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰ ١٨

And collect (wealth) and hide it (from spending it in the Cause of Allah).

وَجَمَعَ

فَأَوْعَىٰ

and hide it (from spending it in the Cause of Allah)

۞ إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا ١٩

Verily, man (disbeliever) was created very impatient;

۞ إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ

Verily, man

خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا

was created very impatient

إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا ٢٠

Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him;

إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ

when evil touches him

جَزُوعًا

irritable (discontented)

وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا ٢١

And niggardly when good touches him;

وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الْخَيْرُ

And when good touches him

مَنُوعًا

niggardly
