فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٢٠

What is the matter with them, that they believe not?

فَمَا لَهُمْ

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩ ٢١

And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate,

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ

And when the Quran is recited to them

لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩

they fall not prostrate

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُكَذِّبُونَ ٢٢

Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.).

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا

Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve,

يُكَذِّبُونَ

belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.).

وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ ٢٣

And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds),

وَاللَّهُ

And Allah

أَعْلَمُ

knows best

بِمَا يُوعُونَ

what they gather (of good and bad deeds)

فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ٢٤

So announce to them a painful torment.

فَبَشِّرْهُم

So announce to them

بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

a painful torment

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ ٢٥

Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise).

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا

وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ

and do righteous good deeds

لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ

for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise)
