وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِّن صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ ٢٨

And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud.

وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ

And (remember) when your Lord said

لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ

to the angels:

إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا

I am going to create a man (Adam)

مِّن صَلْصَالٍ

from sounding clay

مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ

of altered black smooth mud.

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ ٢٩

"So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him."

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ

So, when I have fashioned him completely

وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي

and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him

فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ

then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him.

فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ ٣٠

So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together.

فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ

So, the angels prostrated themselves,

كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ

all of them together.

إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ ٣١

Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators.

إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ

Except Iblis (Satan),

أَبَىٰ أَن يَكُونَ

he refused to be

مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ

among the prostrators.
