أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ عَيْنَيْنِ ٨

Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?

أَلَمْ نَجْعَل

Have We not made

لَّهُ

for him

عَيْنَيْنِ

a pair of eyes

وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ ٩

And a tongue and a pair of lips?

وَلِسَانًا

And a tongue

وَشَفَتَيْنِ

and a pair of lips

وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ ١٠

And shown him the two ways (good and evil)?

وَهَدَيْنَاهُ

And shown him

النَّجْدَيْنِ

the two ways (good and evil)

فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ ١١

But he has made no effort to pass on the path that is steep.

فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ

But he has made no effort to pass

الْعَقَبَةَ

on the path that is steep

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ ١٢

And what will make you know the path that is steep?

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ

And what will make you know

مَا الْعَقَبَةُ

the path that is steep?

فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ ١٣

(It is) Freeing a neck (slave, etc.)

فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ

Freeing a neck (slave, etc.)

أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ ١٤

Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine),

أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ

Or giving food

فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ

in a day of hunger (famine)

يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ ١٥

To an orphan near of kin.

يَتِيمًا

To an orphan

ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ

near of kin

أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ ١٦

Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery.

أَوْ مِسْكِينًا

Or to a Miskin (poor)

ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ

afflicted with misery
