وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ ۖ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ١٦
And (remember) Ibrahim (Abraham) when he said to his people: "Worship Allah (Alone), and fear Him, that is better for you if you did but know.
- وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ
- And (remember) Ibrahim (Abraham)
- إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ
- when he said to his people:
- اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ
- Worship Allah (Alone),
- وَاتَّقُوهُ ۖ
- and fear Him,
- ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ
- that is better for you
- إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
- if you did but know.
إِنَّمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْثَانًا وَتَخْلُقُونَ إِفْكًا ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ لَكُمْ رِزْقًا فَابْتَغُوا عِندَ اللَّهِ الرِّزْقَ وَاعْبُدُوهُ وَاشْكُرُوا لَهُ ۖ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ ١٧
"You worship besides Allah only idols, and you only invent falsehood. Verily, those whom you worship besides Allah have no power to give you provision, so seek your provision from Allah (Alone), and worship Him (Alone), and be grateful to Him. To Him (Alone) you will be brought back.
- إِنَّمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْثَانًا
- You worship besides Allah only idols,
- وَتَخْلُقُونَ إِفْكًا ۚ
- and you only invent falsehood.
- إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ
- Verily, those whom you worship besides Allah
- لَا يَمْلِكُونَ لَكُمْ رِزْقًا
- have no power to give you provision,
- فَابْتَغُوا عِندَ اللَّهِ الرِّزْقَ
- so seek your provision from Allah (Alone),
- وَاعْبُدُوهُ وَاشْكُرُوا لَهُ ۖ
- and worship Him (Alone), and be grateful to Him.
- إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
- To Him (Alone) you will be brought back.
وَإِن تُكَذِّبُوا فَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أُمَمٌ مِّن قَبْلِكُمْ ۖ وَمَا عَلَى الرَّسُولِ إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ ١٨
"And if you deny, then nations before you have denied (their Messengers). And the duty of the Messenger is only to convey (the Message) plainly."
- وَإِن تُكَذِّبُوا
- And if you deny,
- فَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أُمَمٌ مِّن قَبْلِكُمْ ۖ
- then nations before you have denied (their Messengers).
- وَمَا عَلَى الرَّسُولِ إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ
- And the duty of the Messenger is only to convey (the Message) plainly.
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَيْفَ يُبْدِئُ اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ ١٩
See they not how Allah originates creation, then repeats it. Verily, that is easy for Allah.
- أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا
- See they not
- كَيْفَ يُبْدِئُ اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ
- how Allah originates creation
- ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ ۚ
- then repeats it
- إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ
- Verily, that is easy for Allah
قُلْ سِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَانظُرُوا كَيْفَ بَدَأَ الْخَلْقَ ۚ ثُمَّ اللَّهُ يُنشِئُ النَّشْأَةَ الْآخِرَةَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ٢٠
Say: "Travel in the land and see how (Allah) originated creation, and then Allah will bring forth (resurrect) the creation of the Hereafter (i.e. resurrection after death). Verily, Allah is Able to do all things."
- قُلْ سِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ
- Say: 'Travel in the land'
- فَانظُرُوا كَيْفَ بَدَأَ الْخَلْقَ ۚ
- and see how (Allah) originated creation,
- ثُمَّ اللَّهُ يُنشِئُ النَّشْأَةَ الْآخِرَةَ ۚ
- and then Allah will bring forth (resurrect) the creation of the Hereafter (i.e. resurrection after death).
- إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
- Verily, Allah is Able to do all things.
يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَاءُ وَيَرْحَمُ مَن يَشَاءُ ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ تُقْلَبُونَ ٢١
He punishes whom He will, and shows mercy to whom He will, and to Him you will be returned.
- يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَاءُ
- He punishes whom He will
- وَيَرْحَمُ مَن يَشَاءُ ۖ
- and shows mercy to whom He will
- وَإِلَيْهِ تُقْلَبُونَ
- and to Him you will be returned
وَمَا أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ ۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ ٢٢
And you cannot escape in the earth or in the heaven. And besides Allah you have neither any Wali (Protector or Guardian) nor any Helper.
- وَمَا أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ
- And you cannot escape in the earth
- وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ ۖ
- or in the heaven.
- وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ
- And besides Allah you have
- مِن وَلِيٍّ
- neither any Wali (Protector or Guardian)
- وَلَا نَصِيرٍ
- nor any Helper.
وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَلِقَائِهِ أُولَٰئِكَ يَئِسُوا مِن رَّحْمَتِي وَأُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ٢٣
And those who disbelieve in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah and the Meeting with Him, it is they who have no hope of My Mercy, and it is they who will (have) a painful torment.
- وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ
- And those who disbelieve in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah
- وَلِقَائِهِ
- and the Meeting with Him
- أُولَٰئِكَ يَئِسُوا مِن رَّحْمَتِي
- it is they who have no hope of My Mercy
- وَأُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
- and it is they who will (have) a painful torment
فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلَّا أَن قَالُوا اقْتُلُوهُ أَوْ حَرِّقُوهُ فَأَنجَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ ٢٤
So nothing was the answer of [Ibrahim's (Abraham)] people except that they said: "Kill him or burn him." Then Allah saved him from the fire. Verily, in this are indeed signs for a people who believe.
- فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلَّا أَن قَالُوا
- So nothing was the answer of [Ibrahim's (Abraham)] people except that they said:
- اقْتُلُوهُ أَوْ حَرِّقُوهُ
- "Kill him or burn him."
- فَأَنجَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ ۚ
- Then Allah saved him from the fire.
- إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
- Verily, in this are indeed signs for a people who believe.
وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا اتَّخَذْتُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْثَانًا مَّوَدَّةَ بَيْنِكُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۖ ثُمَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكْفُرُ بَعْضُكُم بِبَعْضٍ وَيَلْعَنُ بَعْضُكُم بَعْضًا وَمَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّاصِرِينَ ٢٥
And [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "You have taken (for worship) idols instead of Allah, and the love between you is only in the life of this world, but on the Day of Resurrection, you shall disown each other, and curse each other, and your abode will be the Fire, and you shall have no helper."
- وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا اتَّخَذْتُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْثَانًا
- And [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: 'You have taken (for worship) idols instead of Allah,'
- مَّوَدَّةَ بَيْنِكُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۖ
- and the love between you is only in the life of this world,
- ثُمَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكْفُرُ بَعْضُكُم بِبَعْضٍ
- but on the Day of Resurrection, you shall disown each other,
- وَيَلْعَنُ بَعْضُكُم بَعْضًا
- and curse each other,
- وَمَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ
- and your abode will be the Fire,
- وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّاصِرِينَ
- and you shall have no helper.
۞ فَآمَنَ لَهُ لُوطٌ ۘ وَقَالَ إِنِّي مُهَاجِرٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ ٢٦
So Lout (Lot) believed in him [Ibrahim's (Abraham) Message of Islamic Monotheism]. He [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "I will emigrate for the sake of my Lord. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."
- ۞ فَآمَنَ لَهُ لُوطٌ ۘ
- So Lout (Lot) believed in him
- وَقَالَ إِنِّي مُهَاجِرٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي ۖ
- He [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: 'I will emigrate for the sake of my Lord.'
- إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
- Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُ إِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِ النُّبُوَّةَ وَالْكِتَابَ وَآتَيْنَاهُ أَجْرَهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَإِنَّهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ ٢٧
And We bestowed on him [Ibrahim (Abraham)], Ishaque (Isaac) and Ya'qub (Jacob), and ordained among his offspring Prophethood and the Book [i.e. the Taurat (Torah) (to Musa - Moses), the Injeel (Gospel) (to 'Iesa - Jesus), the Quran (to Muhammad SAW), all from the offspring of Ibrahim (Abraham)], and We granted him his reward in this world, and verily, in the Hereafter he is indeed among the righteous.
- وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُ إِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ
- And We bestowed on him [Ibrahim (Abraham)], Ishaque (Isaac) and Ya'qub (Jacob),
- وَجَعَلْنَا فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِ النُّبُوَّةَ وَالْكِتَابَ
- and ordained among his offspring Prophethood and the Book [i.e. the Taurat (Torah) (to Musa - Moses), the Injeel (Gospel) (to 'Iesa - Jesus), the Quran (to Muhammad SAW), all from the offspring of Ibrahim (Abraham)],
- وَآتَيْنَاهُ أَجْرَهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا ۖ
- and We granted him his reward in this world,
- وَإِنَّهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
- and verily, in the Hereafter he is indeed among the righteous.
