وَلَوْ تَرَىٰ إِذْ يَتَوَفَّى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۙ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ وَذُوقُوا عَذَابَ الْحَرِيقِ ٥٠
And if you could see when the angels take away the souls of those who disbelieve (at death), they smite their faces and their backs, (saying): "Taste the punishment of the blazing Fire."
- وَلَوْ تَرَىٰ إِذْ يَتَوَفَّى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۙ
- And if you could see when the angels take away the souls of those who disbelieve (at death)
- الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ
- they smite their faces and their backs
- وَذُوقُوا عَذَابَ الْحَرِيقِ
- (saying): 'Taste the punishment of the blazing Fire.'
ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَيْسَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِّلْعَبِيدِ ٥١
"This is because of that which your hands had forwarded. And verily, Allah is not unjust to His slaves."
- ذَٰلِكَ
- This is
- بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ
- because of that which your hands had forwarded.
- وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَيْسَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِّلْعَبِيدِ
- And verily, Allah is not unjust to His slaves.
كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ ٥٢
Similar to the behaviour of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and of those before them; they rejected the Ayat (proofs, verses, etc.) of Allah, so Allah punished them for their sins. Verily, Allah is All-Strong, Severe in punishment.
- كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ
- Similar to the behaviour of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh)
- وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ
- and of those before them
- كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ
- they rejected the Ayat (proofs, verses, etc.) of Allah
- فَأَخَذَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ
- so Allah punished them for their sins
- إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ
- Verily, Allah is All-Strong, Severe in punishment
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغَيِّرًا نِّعْمَةً أَنْعَمَهَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ ۙ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ ٥٣
That is so because Allah will never change a grace which He has bestowed on a people until they change what is in their ownselves. And verily, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
- ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ
- That is so because Allah
- لَمْ يَكُ مُغَيِّرًا نِّعْمَةً أَنْعَمَهَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ
- will never change a grace which He has bestowed on a people
- حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ ۙ
- until they change what is in their own selves.
- وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
- And verily, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَغْرَقْنَا آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ وَكُلٌّ كَانُوا ظَالِمِينَ ٥٤
Similar to the behaviour of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before them. They belied the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) for they were all Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.).
- كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ
- Similar to the behaviour of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh)
- وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ
- and those before them
- كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ
- They belied the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord
- فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ
- so We destroyed them for their sins
- وَأَغْرَقْنَا آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ
- and We drowned the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh)
- وَكُلٌّ كَانُوا ظَالِمِينَ
- for they were all Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.)
إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِندَ اللَّهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٥٥
Verily, The worst of moving (living) creatures before Allah are those who disbelieve, - so they shall not believe.
- إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِندَ اللَّهِ
- Verily, the worst of moving (living) creatures before Allah
- الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا
- are those who disbelieve,
- فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
- so they shall not believe.
الَّذِينَ عَاهَدتَّ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ يَنقُضُونَ عَهْدَهُمْ فِي كُلِّ مَرَّةٍ وَهُمْ لَا يَتَّقُونَ ٥٦
They are those with whom you made a covenant, but they break their covenant every time and they do not fear Allah.
- الَّذِينَ عَاهَدتَّ مِنْهُمْ
- They are those with whom you made a covenant,
- ثُمَّ يَنقُضُونَ عَهْدَهُمْ فِي كُلِّ مَرَّةٍ
- but they break their covenant every time
- وَهُمْ لَا يَتَّقُونَ
- and they do not fear Allah.
فَإِمَّا تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ فِي الْحَرْبِ فَشَرِّدْ بِهِم مَّنْ خَلْفَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ ٥٧
So if you gain the mastery over them in war, punish them severely in order to disperse those who are behind them, so that they may learn a lesson.
- فَإِمَّا تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ فِي الْحَرْبِ
- So if you gain the mastery over them in war,
- فَشَرِّدْ بِهِم مَّنْ خَلْفَهُمْ
- punish them severely in order to disperse those who are behind them,
- لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ
- so that they may learn a lesson.
وَإِمَّا تَخَافَنَّ مِن قَوْمٍ خِيَانَةً فَانبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَاءٍ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْخَائِنِينَ ٥٨
If you (O Muhammad SAW) fear treachery from any people throw back (their covenant) to them (so as to be) on equal terms (that there will be no more covenant between you and them). Certainly Allah likes not the treacherous.
- وَإِمَّا تَخَافَنَّ مِن قَوْمٍ خِيَانَةً
- If you (O Muhammad SAW) fear treachery from any people
- فَانبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَاءٍ ۚ
- throw back (their covenant) to them (so as to be) on equal terms
- إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْخَائِنِينَ
- Certainly Allah likes not the treacherous
وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا سَبَقُوا ۚ إِنَّهُمْ لَا يُعْجِزُونَ ٥٩
And let not those who disbelieve think that they can outstrip (escape from the punishment). Verily, they will never be able to save themselves (from Allah's Punishment).
- وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا
- And let not those who disbelieve think
- سَبَقُوا ۚ
- that they can outstrip (escape from the punishment)
- إِنَّهُمْ لَا يُعْجِزُونَ
- Verily, they will never be able to save themselves (from Allah's Punishment)
