فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ آذَنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَاءٍ ۖ وَإِنْ أَدْرِي أَقَرِيبٌ أَم بَعِيدٌ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ ١٠٩
But if they (disbelievers, idolaters, Jews, Christians, polytheists, etc.) turn away (from Islamic Monotheism) say (to them O Muhammad SAW): "I give you a notice (of war as) to be known to us all alike. And I know not whether that which you are promised (i.e. the torment or the Day of Resurrection) is near or far."
- فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا
- But if they turn away
- فَقُلْ آذَنتُكُمْ
- say (to them O Muhammad SAW): 'I give you a notice'
- عَلَىٰ سَوَاءٍ ۖ
- (of war as) to be known to us all alike.
- وَإِنْ أَدْرِي
- And I know not
- أَقَرِيبٌ أَم بَعِيدٌ
- whether that which you are promised is near or far
- مَّا تُوعَدُونَ
- (i.e. the torment or the Day of Resurrection)
إِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْتُمُونَ ١١٠
(Say O Muhammad SAW) Verily, He (Allah) knows that which is spoken aloud (openly) and that which you conceal.
- إِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ
- Verily, He (Allah) knows
- الْجَهْرَ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ
- that which is spoken aloud (openly)
- وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْتُمُونَ
- and that which you conceal.
وَإِنْ أَدْرِي لَعَلَّهُ فِتْنَةٌ لَّكُمْ وَمَتَاعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ ١١١
And I know not, perhaps it may be a trial for you, and an enjoyment for a while.
- وَإِنْ أَدْرِي
- And I know not
- لَعَلَّهُ فِتْنَةٌ لَّكُمْ
- perhaps it may be a trial for you
- وَمَتَاعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
- and an enjoyment for a while
