وَكَمْ قَصَمْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ كَانَتْ ظَالِمَةً وَأَنشَأْنَا بَعْدَهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ ١١
How many a town (community), that were wrong-doers, have We destroyed, and raised up after them another people!
- وَكَمْ قَصَمْنَا
- How many a town (community), that were wrong-doers, have We destroyed,
- مِن قَرْيَةٍ كَانَتْ ظَالِمَةً
- that were wrong-doers,
- وَأَنشَأْنَا بَعْدَهَا
- and raised up after them
- قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ
- another people!
فَلَمَّا أَحَسُّوا بَأْسَنَا إِذَا هُم مِّنْهَا يَرْكُضُونَ ١٢
Then, when they perceived (saw) Our Torment (coming), behold, they (tried to) flee from it.
- فَلَمَّا أَحَسُّوا بَأْسَنَا

- إِذَا هُم مِّنْهَا يَرْكُضُونَ
- behold, they (tried to) flee from it
لَا تَرْكُضُوا وَارْجِعُوا إِلَىٰ مَا أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ وَمَسَاكِنِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْأَلُونَ ١٣
Flee not, but return to that wherein you lived a luxurious life, and to your homes, in order that you may be questioned.
- لَا تَرْكُضُوا
- Flee not,
- وَارْجِعُوا إِلَىٰ مَا أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ
- but return to that wherein you lived a luxurious life,
- وَمَسَاكِنِكُمْ
- and to your homes,
- لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْأَلُونَ
- in order that you may be questioned.
قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ ١٤
They cried: "Woe to us! Certainly! We have been Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, etc.)."
- قَالُوا
- They cried:
- يَا وَيْلَنَا إِنَّا
- "Woe to us!
- كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ
- Certainly! We have been
- Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, etc.).
فَمَا زَالَت تِّلْكَ دَعْوَاهُمْ حَتَّىٰ جَعَلْنَاهُمْ حَصِيدًا خَامِدِينَ ١٥
And that cry of theirs ceased not, till We made them as a field that is reaped, extinct (dead).
- فَمَا زَالَت تِّلْكَ دَعْوَاهُمْ
- And that cry of theirs ceased not
- حَتَّىٰ جَعَلْنَاهُمْ
- till We made them
- حَصِيدًا خَامِدِينَ
- as a field that is reaped, extinct (dead)
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاءَ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَاعِبِينَ ١٦
We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for a (mere) play.
- وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاءَ
- We created not the heavens
- وَالْأَرْضَ
- and the earth
- وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا
- and all that is between them
- لَاعِبِينَ
- for a (mere) play
لَوْ أَرَدْنَا أَن نَّتَّخِذَ لَهْوًا لَّاتَّخَذْنَاهُ مِن لَّدُنَّا إِن كُنَّا فَاعِلِينَ ١٧
Had We intended to take a pastime (i.e. a wife or a son, etc.), We could surely have taken it from Us, if We were going to do (that).
- لَوْ أَرَدْنَا
- Had We intended
- أَن نَّتَّخِذَ لَهْوًا
- to take a pastime
- لَّاتَّخَذْنَاهُ مِن لَّدُنَّا
- We could surely have taken it from Us
- إِن كُنَّا فَاعِلِينَ
- if We were going to do (that)
بَلْ نَقْذِفُ بِالْحَقِّ عَلَى الْبَاطِلِ فَيَدْمَغُهُ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌ ۚ وَلَكُمُ الْوَيْلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ ١٨
Nay, We fling (send down) the truth (this Quran) against the falsehood (disbelief), so it destroys it, and behold, it (falsehood) is vanished. And woe to you for that (lie) which you ascribe (to Us) (against Allah by uttering that Allah has a wife and a son).
- بَلْ نَقْذِفُ بِالْحَقِّ
- Nay, We fling (send down) the truth
- عَلَى الْبَاطِلِ
- against the falsehood
- فَيَدْمَغُهُ
- so it destroys it
- فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌ ۚ
- and behold, it (falsehood) is vanished
- وَلَكُمُ الْوَيْلُ
- And woe to you
- مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ
- for that (lie) which you ascribe (to Us)
وَلَهُ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَنْ عِندَهُ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِ وَلَا يَسْتَحْسِرُونَ ١٩
To Him belongs whosoever is in the heavens and on earth. And those who are near Him (i.e. the angels) are not too proud to worship Him, nor are they weary (of His worship).
- وَلَهُ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ
- To Him belongs whosoever is in the heavens and on earth.
- وَمَنْ عِندَهُ
- And those who are near Him (i.e. the angels)
- لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِ
- are not too proud to worship Him,
- وَلَا يَسْتَحْسِرُونَ
- nor are they weary (of His worship).
يُسَبِّحُونَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ لَا يَفْتُرُونَ ٢٠
They (i.e. the angels) glorify His Praises night and day, (and) they never slacken (to do so).
