وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ ۖ فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ٧

And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know.

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ

And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW)

إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ ۖ

but men to whom We inspired

فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ

so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)]

إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

if you do not know

وَمَا جَعَلْنَاهُمْ جَسَدًا لَّا يَأْكُلُونَ الطَّعَامَ وَمَا كَانُوا خَالِدِينَ ٨

And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortals,

وَمَا جَعَلْنَاهُمْ

And We did not create them

جَسَدًا لَّا يَأْكُلُونَ الطَّعَامَ

(with) bodies that ate not food

وَمَا كَانُوا خَالِدِينَ

nor were they immortals

ثُمَّ صَدَقْنَاهُمُ الْوَعْدَ فَأَنجَيْنَاهُمْ وَمَن نَّشَاءُ وَأَهْلَكْنَا الْمُسْرِفِينَ ٩

Then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin).

ثُمَّ صَدَقْنَاهُمُ الْوَعْدَ

Then We fulfilled to them the promise

فَأَنجَيْنَاهُمْ وَمَن نَّشَاءُ

and We saved them and those whom We willed

وَأَهْلَكْنَا الْمُسْرِفِينَ

but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin)

لَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَابًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ ۖ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ١٠

Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a Book, (the Quran) in which there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder or an honour for you i.e. honour for the one who follows the teaching of the Quran and acts on its orders). Will you not then understand?

لَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ

Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind)

كِتَابًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ ۖ

a Book, (the Quran) in which there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder or an honour for you

أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

Will you not then understand?
