وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ مِيثَاقَهُمْ وَمِنكَ وَمِن نُّوحٍ وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ ۖ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُم مِّيثَاقًا غَلِيظًا ٧

And (remember) when We took from the Prophets their covenant, and from you (O Muhammad SAW), and from Nuh (Noah), Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), and 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). We took from them a strong covenant.

وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ مِيثَاقَهُمْ

And (remember) when We took from the Prophets their covenant

وَمِنكَ

and from you (O Muhammad SAW)

وَمِن نُّوحٍ

and from Nuh (Noah)

وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ

and Ibrahim (Abraham)

وَمُوسَىٰ

and Musa (Moses)

وَعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ ۖ

and 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)

وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُم مِّيثَاقًا غَلِيظًا

We took from them a strong covenant

لِّيَسْأَلَ الصَّادِقِينَ عَن صِدْقِهِمْ ۚ وَأَعَدَّ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا ٨

That He may ask the truthfuls (Allah's Messengers and His Prophets) about their truth (i.e. the conveyance of Allah's Message that which they were charged with). And He has prepared for the disbelievers a painful torment (Hell-fire).

لِّيَسْأَلَ الصَّادِقِينَ

That He may ask the truthfuls

عَن صِدْقِهِمْ ۚ

about their truth

وَأَعَدَّ لِلْكَافِرِينَ

And He has prepared for the disbelievers

عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا

a painful torment
