وَوَصَّيْنَا الْإِنسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ إِحْسَانًا ۖ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ كُرْهًا وَوَضَعَتْهُ كُرْهًا ۖ وَحَمْلُهُ وَفِصَالُهُ ثَلَاثُونَ شَهْرًا ۚ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَبَلَغَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً قَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي فِي ذُرِّيَّتِي ۖ إِنِّي تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ١٥
And We have enjoined on man to be dutiful and kind to his parents. His mother bears him with hardship and she brings him forth with hardship, and the bearing of him, and the weaning of him is thirty (30) months, till when he attains full strength and reaches forty years, he says: "My Lord! Grant me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favour which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds, such as please You, and make my off-spring good. Truly, I have turned to You in repentance, and truly, I am one of the Muslims (submitting to Your Will)."
- وَوَصَّيْنَا الْإِنسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ إِحْسَانًا ۖ
- And We have enjoined on man to be dutiful and kind to his parents.
- حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ كُرْهًا وَوَضَعَتْهُ كُرْهًا ۖ

- وَحَمْلُهُ وَفِصَالُهُ ثَلَاثُونَ شَهْرًا ۚ
- and the bearing of him, and the weaning of him is thirty (30) months.
- حَتَّىٰ إِذَا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَبَلَغَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً
- till when he attains full strength and reaches forty years,
- قَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ
- he says: 'My Lord! Grant me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favour which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents,'
- وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ
- and that I may do righteous good deeds, such as please You,
- وَأَصْلِحْ لِي فِي ذُرِّيَّتِي ۖ
- and make my off-spring good.
- إِنِّي تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
- Truly, I have turned to You in repentance, and truly, I am one of the Muslims (submitting to Your Will).
أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ نَتَقَبَّلُ عَنْهُمْ أَحْسَنَ مَا عَمِلُوا وَنَتَجَاوَزُ عَن سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ فِي أَصْحَابِ الْجَنَّةِ ۖ وَعْدَ الصِّدْقِ الَّذِي كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ ١٦
They are those from whom We shall accept the best of their deeds and overlook their evil deeds. (They shall be) among the dwellers of Paradise, a promise of truth, which they have been promised.
- أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ
- They are those
- نَتَقَبَّلُ عَنْهُمْ أَحْسَنَ مَا عَمِلُوا
- from whom We shall accept the best of their deeds
- وَنَتَجَاوَزُ عَن سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ
- and overlook their evil deeds.
- فِي أَصْحَابِ الْجَنَّةِ ۖ
- (They shall be) among the dwellers of Paradise,
- وَعْدَ الصِّدْقِ الَّذِي كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ
- a promise of truth, which they have been promised.
وَالَّذِي قَالَ لِوَالِدَيْهِ أُفٍّ لَّكُمَا أَتَعِدَانِنِي أَنْ أُخْرَجَ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ الْقُرُونُ مِن قَبْلِي وَهُمَا يَسْتَغِيثَانِ اللَّهَ وَيْلَكَ آمِنْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَيَقُولُ مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ ١٧
But he who says to his parents: "Fie upon you both! Do you hold out the promise to me that I shall be raised up (again) when generations before me have passed away (without rising)?" While they (father and mother) invoke Allah for help (and rebuke their son): "Woe to you! Believe! Verily, the Promise of Allah is true." But he says: "This is nothing but the tales of the ancient."
- وَالَّذِي قَالَ لِوَالِدَيْهِ
- But he who says to his parents:
- أُفٍّ لَّكُمَا
- "Fie upon you both!"
- أَتَعِدَانِنِي أَنْ أُخْرَجَ
- Do you hold out the promise to me that I shall be raised up (again)
- وَقَدْ خَلَتِ الْقُرُونُ مِن قَبْلِي
- when generations before me have passed away (without rising)?
- وَهُمَا يَسْتَغِيثَانِ اللَّهَ
- While they (father and mother) invoke Allah for help
- وَيْلَكَ آمِنْ
- (and rebuke their son): "Woe to you! Believe!
- إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ
- Verily, the Promise of Allah is true."
- فَيَقُولُ
- But he says:
- مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
- "This is nothing but the tales of the ancient."
أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلُ فِي أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا خَاسِرِينَ ١٨
They are those against whom the Word (of torment) is justified among the previous generations of jinns and mankind that have passed away. Verily! They are ever the losers.
- أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ
- They are those
- حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلُ
- against whom the Word (of torment) is justified
- فِي أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم
- among the previous generations
- مِّنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ ۖ
- of jinns and mankind
- إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا خَاسِرِينَ
- Verily! They are ever the losers.
وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَاتٌ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوا ۖ وَلِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ ١٩
And for all, there will be degrees according to that which they did, that He (Allah) may recompense them in full for their deeds. And they will not be wronged.
- وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَاتٌ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوا ۖ
- And for all, there will be degrees according to that which they did
- وَلِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ
- that He (Allah) may recompense them in full for their deeds
- وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
- And they will not be wronged
