هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ ٢٤
Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)?
- هَلْ أَتَاكَ

- حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

- الْمُكْرَمِينَ
إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلَامًا ۖ قَالَ سَلَامٌ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ ٢٥
When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me,"
- إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ
- When they came in to him,
- فَقَالُوا سَلَامًا ۖ
- and said, 'Salam, (peace be upon you)!'
- قَالَ سَلَامٌ
- He answered; 'Salam, (peace be upon you),'
- قَوْمٌ
- and said:
- مُّنكَرُونَ
- 'You are a people unknown to me,'
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ فَجَاءَ بِعِجْلٍ سَمِينٍ ٢٦
Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows].
- فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ
- Then he turned to his household
- فَجَاءَ بِعِجْلٍ سَمِينٍ
- so brought out a roasted calf
فَقَرَّبَهُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ ٢٧
And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?"
- فَقَرَّبَهُ إِلَيْهِمْ

- أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ
- Will you not eat?
فَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً ۖ قَالُوا لَا تَخَفْ ۖ وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَامٍ عَلِيمٍ ٢٨
Then he conceived a fear of them (when they ate not). They said: "Fear not." And they gave him glad tidings of an intelligent son, having knowledge (about Allah and His religion of True Monotheism).
- فَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً ۖ
- Then he conceived a fear of them
- قَالُوا لَا تَخَفْ ۖ
- They said: 'Fear not.'
- وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَامٍ عَلِيمٍ
- And they gave him glad tidings of an intelligent son
- having knowledge (about Allah and His religion of True Monotheism)
فَأَقْبَلَتِ امْرَأَتُهُ فِي صَرَّةٍ فَصَكَّتْ وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٌ ٢٩
Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!"
- فَأَقْبَلَتِ امْرَأَتُهُ
- Then his wife came forward
- فِي صَرَّةٍ
- with a loud voice
- فَصَكَّتْ وَجْهَهَا
- she smote her face
- وَقَالَتْ
- and said:
- عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٌ
- "A barren old woman!"
قَالُوا كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْعَلِيمُ ٣٠
They said: "Even so says your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower."
- قَالُوا كَذَٰلِكِ
- They said: 'Even so
- قَالَ رَبُّكِ ۖ
- says your Lord.
- إِنَّهُ هُوَ
- Verily, He is
- الْحَكِيمُ الْعَلِيمُ
- the All-Wise, the All-Knower.
۞ قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ ٣١
[Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?"
- ۞ قَالَ
- said
- فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ
- Then for what purpose
- أَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ
- O Messengers
قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ ٣٢
They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah);
- قَالُوا
- They said:
- إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا
- We have been sent
- إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ
- to a people
- مُّجْرِمِينَ
- who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah)
لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن طِينٍ ٣٣
To send down upon them stones of baked clay.
- لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ
- To send down upon them
- حِجَارَةً مِّن طِينٍ
- stones of baked clay
مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ ٣٤
Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins).

- Marked
- عِندَ رَبِّكَ
- by your Lord
- لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ
- for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins)
فَأَخْرَجْنَا مَن كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٣٥
So We brought out from therein the believers.
- فَأَخْرَجْنَا
- So We brought out
- مَن كَانَ فِيهَا
- from therein
- مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
- the believers
فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِّنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ٣٦
But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters].
- فَمَا وَجَدْنَا
- But We found not
- فِيهَا
- there
- غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِّنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
- any household of the Muslims except one
- of the Muslims
- except one
- [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]
وَتَرَكْنَا فِيهَا آيَةً لِّلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ ٣٧
And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment.
- وَتَرَكْنَا فِيهَا
- And We have left there
- آيَةً لِّلَّذِينَ
- a sign for those who
- يَخَافُونَ الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ
- fear the painful torment.
