The Consequences Faced by Pharaoh, 'Ad, Thamud, and the People of Nuh (Noah)

وَفِي مُوسَىٰ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ ٣٨
And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority.
- وَفِي مُوسَىٰ
- And in Musa (Moses)
- إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَاهُ
- when We sent him
- إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ
- to Fir'aun (Pharaoh)
- بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
- with a manifest authority
فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكْنِهِ وَقَالَ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ ٣٩
But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman."
- فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكْنِهِ
- But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might)
- وَقَالَ
- and said:
- سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ
- "A sorcerer, or a madman."
فَأَخَذْنَاهُ وَجُنُودَهُ فَنَبَذْنَاهُمْ فِي الْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ ٤٠
So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed.
- فَأَخَذْنَاهُ

- فَنَبَذْنَاهُمْ

- فِي الْيَمِّ

- وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ

وَفِي عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الرِّيحَ الْعَقِيمَ ٤١
And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind;
- وَفِي عَادٍ
- And in 'Ad
- إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ
- when We sent against them
- الرِّيحَ الْعَقِيمَ
- the barren wind
مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَيْءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتْهُ كَالرَّمِيمِ ٤٢
It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins.
- مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَيْءٍ
- It spared nothing
- أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ
- that it reached
- إِلَّا جَعَلَتْهُ
- but blew it
- كَالرَّمِيمِ
- into broken spreads of rotten ruins
وَفِي ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ ٤٣
And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!"
- وَفِي ثَمُودَ
- And in Thamud
- إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ
- when they were told
- تَمَتَّعُوا حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
- Enjoy yourselves for a while!
فَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ ٤٤
But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking.
- فَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ
- But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord
- فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ
- so the Sa'iqah overtook them
- وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
- while they were looking
فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مِن قِيَامٍ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنتَصِرِينَ ٤٥
Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves.
- فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا
- Then they were unable
- مِن قِيَامٍ
- to rise up
- وَمَا كَانُوا
- nor could they
- مُنتَصِرِينَ
- help themselves
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ ٤٦
(So were) the people of Nuh (Noah) before them. Verily, they were a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
- وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ
- (So were) the people of Nuh (Noah) before them.
- إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ
- Verily, they were a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
